Every time I hear about a new PETA campaign, I just laugh at how ridiculous they are and how they spend their time supporting the lamest causes.

From lefty's link:

Quote:
PETA's "Animal Record" report for 2009, filed with the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, shows that the animal rights group killed 97 percent of the dogs and cats in its care last year. During all of 2009, PETA found adoptive homes for just eight pets.

Just eight animals -- out of the 2,366 it took in.

Yup, Penn & Teller had a Bullshit episode on PETA and exposed those numbers as well as their links to the Animal Liberation Front which the FBI calls a serious terrorist threat.

For example, in the documentary they went to a home where a dog was chained out in the heat being neglected and starving. They took it to have it checked out by their vet and ended up euthanizing it because the owner did not want to take care of it.

Since you seem to be going to bat for PETA, what's your opinion of the print ads they ran several years back, comparing pig farming to the Holocaust and chicken farming to lynchings in the Old South?

I think it's bold and very chic.

This is covered in the documentary also. They are tactics PETA purposely uses and they are open about the importance of media attention. It works and it's what helped make them so successful.
