I haven't hookahed in awhile and some friends and I were looking into getting things going again - we used to go weekly. We usually hang out around St. Marks/Union Square (well also the UES and UWS but I feel hookah bars aren't too common there), and the old places I used to hit up were mostly just friendly recommendations. I knew this place around 10th and 2nd ave which wasn't that great and I usually visited Cozy (sp?) on 2nd st. and 1st ave which was 5 bucks more for a hookah but had a nice sprawling (and probably filthy) mattress to lie on.
I figure now that I have the resource that is style forum I'll ask to see if there's any better. Budget isn't that much of a question although I'm just looking for a place to have a few smokes and beers. Taste of hookah and comfort is mostly what I value most. And if the place will let you play your ipod on their speakers all the better.
