Gatsby Wax - Firmness

Right now I have the purple gatsby wax. It works good, but doesn't hold as firmly as I want it to. (Nor does it hold very long - I have to reapply it periodically throughout the day.)

Would on of the other Gatbsy wax types be better for my hair? (I have a short frohawk kind of hairdo.)

refer to my suggestions in this thread.
Sperm is the way to go, not only will it have an extra firm hold when it dries, it also will help straighten your hair due to the weight of it so then you will have no need for a hair straightener. Why do all that work when you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone?

Grey one was my favorite when I had short hair. It's kind of junk though. I recommend Shiseido Design Tex 06 Similar consistency to the purple gatsby shit but stickier, comes out well in the shower and lasts all day. My favorite stuff by far - my hair is a bit longer than yours though and I wear it down, so I'm really not sure how it would work on short hair. But I used to use the Gatsby grey and purple stuff, so take it that advice for what it's worth.

Where do you buy the Shisheido from?

From the salon I go to. It's in Japan but I imagine you can find it online somewhere.

Hair wax depends mostly on how you apply it and technique. I.e make sure hair is dry apply to the roots and don't use to much otherwise it will become really heavy etc. Purple gatsby also works well on short-medium hair but not very well on long hair , if you want it to hold longer just use some hairspray. I dont' really like gatsby that much its way overhyped i havn't tried shishedo products want to but currnetly using a korean wax Freeze pitch i quiet like it Uploaded with ImageShack.us

"Wild Shake" (royal blue-ish color)
"Loose Shuffle" (orange)

I agree Gatsby is mostly junk, I don't understand how it can be overhyped though. It's dirt cheap - like $1.50 for a small one (lasts about a month).

They also have hairspray now called Moving Mist. It was made to compete with Shiseido's ultra-popular "UNO Fog Bar" - both are around $7. I've never used the Gatsby spray but I really like the UNO Fog Bar.

Do you use the design Tex and the spray simulataneously?

i use american crew wax. how does that compare to design tex and gatsby?
i pretty much have every american crew product - pomade, forming cream, fiber, molding clay, and the wax. I am in the process of testing each one. I have medium length hair. Enough to cover my forehead but I thinned it out so it's not ultra thick as before. Id say its all trial and error depending on length, consistency of your hair etc. Get a sample pack and go nuts.

I got the pink Gatsby Wax today and its perfect - in texture and strength.

If it matters, I find it much stronger/better than the purple GW, which is in turn a lot better than American Crew Fiber (by a long shot).

ONE MORE QUESTION: I still need to rearrange my hair every now and then due to a stray hair that'll pop up. Should I be looking for some type of firming/holding spray? What's cheap but good that you recommend, if yes?

I use Osis' Thrill and a bit of hair spray.
