Bribing the Waiter

A question for people who work at or have experience with nicer ($40+ entrees) restaurants. I am 19 and look it. If I'm asked "would you like an x,y,z or bottle of wine?" does that mean that I probably won't get carded? Would a $50 work in place of an ID? If it doesn't, what happens when I get denied? Is there anything more effective than that in lieu of a fake?

Thanks.

He thought you were gay and he was propositioning you.

The place can potentially lose it's liquor licence because of your ass. If you don't know any of the waiters just forget about it.

Dress up and have who ever you with dress up too (like you are on a business lunch or dinner). Behave maturely and ask for an alcoholic beverage. In my experience they will rarely ask for ID in a very good restaurant. Don't bother bribing. If you must try bribing, leave a $20 bill tucked slightly under your water glass and see if the server notices. If so and it's favorably go for it and order your drink. If not, forget it and move on, if so, you just spent $20 for an overpriced beverage. Enjoy!

In my experience, if the waiter asks you if you'd like wine, he isn't going to card you. I'm 20 and look 17. Never been carded at a nicer restaurant, only at shitholes like applebee's

I'm 17 and look like 7 and have never been carded at a restaurant where I actually ate multiple courses/the price is 40 dollars + for an entree. I'm presuming in that scenario the whole bill is going to run into the hundreds for each person. Be tasteful and order what you want - the restaurant doesn't want to card because the risk of getting caught is both far smaller in nice restaurants and because it makes them look pedestrian as well.

That being said, if you're willing to drop a 50 dollar bribe, I can help fix your problems for a few years for a little over double that if you're in NYC...

Bribe the host/hostess...and don't call it a bribe..call it getting a table...and in my experience, you don't even usually need to do this, just don't be a dick like every other person in line who huffs when they can't get a table.

Don't bribe the wait staff for being underage, either suck it up, or I doubt most restaurants with 40$ entrees are going to card you....but don't think the waiter doesn't know you're 17....

tip well. always, for good service. And, not making you look like a dick by carding you in front of your date for a bottle of wine, is good service.

I have never been asked to show ID at any place that would be prohibitively expensive for some high school/college kids to eat.

I have a buddy in DPS who's going to fix me up. It'll just be a couple of weeks and I was hoping to take my girlfriend out to nice a nice dinner in a few days.

Thanks for the helpful replies.

Don't bribe the waiter. That is such a douchey thing to do. Order the alcohol, if they card you, tell them you don't have any ID on you. If they bring you the wine, sweet. If they don't oh well.

Just order...if they are offering and its that nice, they may not card you. If they do...then too bad.

Remember, in order to run a sting op on a restaurant (where you pay the chief's 19yr old nephew $10 and give them a free meal to try and buy booze), you have to be able to pay the final bill.

Police departments don't want to throw their budget at doing random checks on expensive restaurants.

That^^. Just dress nicely and go with the flow....No need to bribe.

As a waiter, the only time I ever ask for an ID is if you look under around 25. At that point, if you hand me a rectangular card that is at least laminated, I just give it back to you and serve you alcohol. I don't give a fuck what country it's from or whether it's fake or not. I mostly do this so I don't get fucked by an undercover cop (which does happen in restaurants), and even if he does try to fuck me still if I didn't card, I can say "oh well you looked over 30 and that's my restaurant's policy."

ON THE OTHER HAND, if some kid tried to bribe me to serve him alcohol, I would outright say fuck no, and probably get someone else to serve him. Either it's an undercover cop trying to entrap me or the kid isn't worth my time and patience, so I'd get someone else to serve them. Not worth my service, whether or not the "bribe" is left underneath a water glass lol.

If she's already your girlfriend you don't need to impress. If it's not a first date than, a) does it matter that you drink wine? and b) are you honestly going to be that embarrassed by saying "no I don't have ID" and not getting it? It's not like your girlfriend's going to think "wow you're immature."
