Weekend in Montreal

Thread Starter
Hello SFers. My friends and I are heading to Montreal from the 19th to the 22nd. There are three of us, each 20 years old, and this will be all of our first times in Montreal. One of my friends is fluent in French and I know enough to order at a bar or restaurant. I have a few concerns and would like some recommendations of any places a poor student like myself could enjoy.

Car theft: My friend wants to take his new (to him) flashy E46 with 19 inch wheels, S54 swap, etc etc. I hear that car theft rates are considerably high. Is it advisable to leave the car at an underground parking garage during our entire stay?

Customs: If the border patrol sees a carton of Djarum Black cigarettes in the trunk on our way back to the States, will they confiscate it?

Weather: Is it going to be better than the muggy NY heat this summer?

Thanks in advance and I look forward to your replies

I dont think you have to worry about car theft more than you would in any other major city. Taking a look at the weather, looks like it'll be pretty hot and humid. The Hotel de la montagne has a rooftop pool, which is a great way to cool off. I am saying it is the nicest rooftop pool in the world, but sometimes you can get some great scenery. I think if you are there for the whole weekend it shouldn't be a problem. For food, you can't go wrong with au pied du cuchon. Its seriously rich, but incredibly delicious.
