Did My First Open Mic Stand Up Routine - Page 2

Performed at another one tonight and learned a lot from a few comediennes who I saw the previous night at the first open mic.

"You're performing in front of the worst of worst. Of course nobody is going to laugh. They're all a bunch of bitter judgmental comedians. Just know if your stuff is good, it's good"

Anyway, I'll keep you guys updated when somebody laughs.

Remember, its not what you think is funny that counts. Nobody in the audience gives a fuck about you. You're there to make them laugh.

Noted Third Open Mic in 3 days. So much to learn, but I've definitely got the bug. It's like Fight Club for neurotic ectomorphs. I was picked first and chose to go on first tonight. I could watch my hand shaking as I held the mic at the beginning but by the time I was mid set I started feeling confident and comfortable. Still a bit bewildering to present stuff I thought was really funny and to met with tepid polite laughter. There are guys here that are so good, especially in LA. There's so much insecurity in the room that people melt when you give them a compliment. The chick comediennes know how fucked up the males are, so there's no fraternizing at all in the club.
