Was told or heard around that raw almonds were very good for you and had alot of beneficial things so i bought a couple of bags one for me to keep at my desk and one for my wife and we're eating a couple of handful let say for breakfast or right before leave for work when you get that hunger pang for dinner.
anyone have any comments about it? i know they are good for calcium, magnesium, protein and fiber.

Almonds are great, but just keep in mind that "a couple of handfuls" is a pretty significant amount if it's essentially in addition to your normal caloric.

I eat three pounds of almonds a week I snack all day and they are better than candy, but as my metabolism slows, I know it will catch up to me.

a couple of handfuls for me is 320 calories. i know about that. basically it is not on top of anything i will be eating already through the day. it is a replacement of a bagel or donut in the morning or a would-be snakc in the late afternoon

I don't snack much but we always have almonds around the house since my dad's in the canning business. Him and my grandfather swear by them (grandfather also eats a ton of peanuts) since they prefer natural sources of vitamins/minerals as opposed to vitamin pills and usually eat them with red wine after dinner.

Personally I can't stand the raw kind since they just taste, well, raw . I prefer my almonds roasted and salted. Even then eating more than 5 leaves the palate feeling bland so I like to break up the flavor with macadamias.

They are the King of the Nuts! Eat 2 handfuls (2oz or 24 almonds) wash down with a 8 oz glass of water and it should suppress your appetite.

I also used to snack on them all day however, I eventually grew very tired of the taste. I now eat them rarely.

nice. will definitely see . as it is, i have noticed a downplay in my hunger for dinner as of late. maybe due to this or other factors (like excitement for what is at hand after dinner that i have to take care of) will see.

I eat a handful a day without fail - usually blended in a homemade smoothie.

Anyone else find almonds to be really great at moving the bowels? Seriously, very few things make me hit the head like almonds (and peanuts, but not walnuts).

They're kind of a double-edged sword. In theory (i.e., eaten in moderation), they're great for you. In praxis, most people just stock up on them and chow down repeatedly over the course of the day, thereby taking in hundreds of additional calories and grams of fat.

It sounds a little sissylike, but I'd recommend portioning out the "two handfuls" into ziploc bags each day, and bringing no more than one bag to the office -- especially if you're slightly willpower challenged.

Protip: you can make raw almonds taste and smell a lot better by toasting them in the toaster. It really kicks the flavor up a few dozen notches.
