How much do you spend on a toothbrush?

I was at the drugstore buying a toothbrush and started wondering if a $7 toothbrush really made much more of a difference over a $1 one. Do I really need a brush that has all sorts of different patterns and bristle heights and things sticking up to supposedly help clean my teeth? I'm not convinced that they perform any better, yet I only buy a toothbrush 2-3 times a year so it seems like something worth not cheaping out on.

I ended up buying a $4 Colgate 360, was intrigued by the tongue/cheek scrubber on the back of the brush.

I bought a case of toothbrushes (144) for $20 a year ago at liquidator's place. I've still got plenty left. They are fine, I don't think any of the hi-tech toothbrush stuff matters. It's all a scam to get more money from the rubes.

A $3 toothbrush replaced every three months is all you need.

I got the sonicare (either the 6500 pr 9300 or something) for about $100 off ebay. One of the best items I own, seriously, I would highly encourage everyone to get a solid brush. What else could I get for $100 that I'd use 2x a day for years and see a significant improvement for?

oral-b ten packs at costco, about $12

$15 electric toothbrush has served me well for a few years. Every few months I spend ~$10 on a 2 pack of replacement heads. One day I'll upgrade to a premium model to see the difference.

I've had an Oral-B 8000 series for about 5 years now. The only thing I've ever replaced are the heads. I love it.
