Varenicline or Champix are medications which belong to Smoking Cessation Therapies. It is seen to be more effective in combination with counseling or quit smoking education. This Stop smoking medication is known to help a smoker to deal with withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings. He also loses his interest in cigarette. This happens because this chemical works at the receptor where nicotine from cigarettes works. It is very important that one seeks medical help before using these drugs.

The treatment generally starts a week or two before the quit date set by the smoker and is continued for 12 weeks. People who quit smoking within this time are advised to continue the dosage for the next 12 weeks so that they do not relapse and return to smoking. People who fail to quit smoking during this time may give it a second try after identifying the cause that lead to their failure.
