the solid black button-down shirt - Page 5

What about casual black shirts in a different material, say flannel? Should pair well with any type of denim/pants?

I dig them when they're rocked out a bit:

Black is decidedly middle class and tough. Nobody here fits that description.

I told you to get out of the CE, my bad. You suck here too, from now on post exclusively in the health and gym freaks section.

I have a few black shirts, I sometimes wear them with gray or navy (better) suits. A clean Prada shirt with a navy Jil Sander tailormade suit and some sleek laceups is very 90s-early2000s minimal and I like that.

Most people here are middle-class. As for tough I dunno. Not that it matters as black shirts aren't associated with those characteristics.

Yes I recently went to a formal function for a few middle class toughs, they were all stomping around in their tuxedos doing shots of Cuervo and talking about titties in between hitting each other with two by fours.

I've been doing something like this with my black floral shirt, wearing it with broken-in black/grey raws and a navy/slate cardigan. Black works better for me when it's subtly contrasted with what's around it.

A lot of dudes I used to know at my old workplace would always wear black shirt, black pants (when there was no real restraint on whats colors they could wear), and basically whatever tie, because just about every tie pops out with the all black. I think that's super boring. I know people consider black pants/white shirt is boring these days, but 99 out of 100 times I'd rather go with the traditional black pants/white shirt. Black/black is boring to me. It has nothing to do with me not liking black or something, but more like not wanting to dress like everyone else, even if I'm picking what fashion tells me is the more outdated look.

Here are two examples of black shirts done well, I think. Ted Danson in GQ: Classic from the Sartorialist:

The first two should never be mentioned in the same breath as the last one.

Black is very slimming and draining so I wouldn't expect a skinny white dude to feel comfortable in it.

I only have one, never used to wear them before but now I like the look when paired with a grey suit or just grey slacks, navy looks good too, and on the odd occasion I'll use it under a leather jacket with jeans, never worn it with black slacks though as that would look too slim I think besides it reminds me of some store staff uniform.

I really really need a black shirt that can be worn untucked, a bit cropped, made of good middle-weight cotton and stiff point or semi-spread collar. I'll prob stick to my staple, something in RL custom fit.
