The fit is slim but I have room in it. My torso is wide so it may look more fitted than it is. In my opinion, the jacket is not very oily. The construction looks and feels great. I expect to have this piece for many years.
I'm probably sensitive to the oil because I have a lot of photography gear. Fingerprints were everywhere. Looking at your photo though it's obvious it's saturated. Not saying that's a bad thing for everyone- it's just a very rich garment even compared to the regular Filson oilcloth. Interesting to see exitstrategy's jacket seems less wet, I wonder if there's some variance going on here or if it's just lighting and photo. I think the consensus on the large is it's a 40" with layers or a 42" without, so that seems about right. It will be interesting to see how it ages. I wish I could get an XL to try on. I haven't completely given up although the Filson 5165 seems like a more "mature" alternative for me. I'm so OCD I'll probably wind up getting ahold of both and seeing what works best. Although if I keep OCD'ing on Aldens I'll be broke and begging for handouts soon.

Yeah, I am not saying it is free of oil but I would not go as far to say after touching the jacket my hands were as oily as eating from a box of KFC. In my opinion, that statement is an exaggeration. I am not familiar with the other Filson products so I cannot compare.

I order from the Filson side of the KFC menu. Perhaps they don't have collab KFC's in your part of the world. Avoid the Ed Hardy buscuits, they're awful.

Sounds like a large is going to fit me just fine. How are the cuff openings? The sleeves might be a little too long for my arms, so hopefully the opening is small enough that it will sit on my wrists instead of draping over my hands.

The cuff openings are 5" to be exact. As you can see from the pics, the sleeves are a bit long on mine but sit fine.

That or "Levi x Filson Shooting Shirt...Medium but fits like Large or XL". Speaking of....if anybody wants a medium that measures about 24" PTP I'll sell for $50.

I tried washing it hot and it shrank a little but still too big for me I'm afraid. Too bad, great shirt at a great price. Tag price is $128 too which is what it is on the website now.

I can't get into this jacket. It reminds me of something you'd wear while working in your barn.

No one wearing it in this thread is wearing it as "workwear" so whatever. I can't get into this jacket in the casual/urban/suburban/faux workwear that its being worn as.
