If you're buying a motorcycle jacket from Neiman Marcus, you're doing it wrong.

However, I disagree with your contention that the workmanship is the same. It has been my experience, even with something as simple as Brooks Brothers dress shirts, that those items made overseas are of significantly lower quality than those made in the USA or England. I admit, I do not have a first world D&G item to compare with a third world D&G item, but I would be surprised if the quality is on the same level.

*On a side note, I was last in Switzerland in the summer of 2001 and had just such a beverage there in the Bernese Alps and it was just about the most perfect thing I've ever tasted that didn't have alcohol in it.

I agree things made in sweat shops in third world nations are inhumane, but it does keep the costs down to the consumers (that is why walmart and target are so popular among the masses). Imagine how much Nike sneaks would be if they were made in Switzerland...
Also, I didnt say it would be the same quality, but rather within a reasonable deviance of quality.

what do you guys think?

i thought it looked awesome when ronaldo wore one thats similar to this in the nike - write the future advert when he was at the 'ronaldo stadium' ceremony...

Vanson VAJ3 very similar design but much better make, plus you can choose between competition and mid weight leather. Or have a look at some of the leather jackets from Schott (can't understand how anyone can say no to the vintaged D pocket horsehide perfecto).

Buy what you like, but a well constructed motorcycle jacket will not only have thick leather, it will have very few stitched seams. Seams are a weak point that can split under stress. Look at a Vanson or Schott and you will notice that the arms are one piece.

I would think that even for a fashion jacket, if you want the authentic look, the jacket should emulate the design elements of the real thing. If it were me, I'd spend the money elsewhere.

Yeah, it is single zip but in my opinion, it is just designed for half zip, or worn open zip (like how the model portrayed it in the picture). Ronaldo usually sport those leather jackets whether its bombers or motorcycle-esque ones. If you google him it usually comes up.

This forum puts price in perspective of EVERYTHING. When the piece is off season and on sale it wont have my size anymore. On stuff that usually will be available on sale, then obviously i shop smart but if there is something that I really like and i know it wont be there when the sale comes then i pay full price no problem.

I adore football but wouldn't dream of trying to dress like a footballer, especially that one. Footballers always dress dreadfully. Except Roberto Mancini, who's a former footballer so doesn't count.

If you want a bad-ass, douche-free jacket without having to worry about riding I'd go with the Belstaff Gangster leather blouson. I've had mine for 2 years and in that time it has consistently drawn appreciative comments from the ladies and nods/inquiries from the guys. Somewhat limited in production (or at least difficult to find), it's available in 2 seasonal weights in antiqued black (pictured and what I have) and a very cool black/brown.

FWIW, I never wore any of my Belstaff while riding this...

whenever I see someone that doesn't ride a motorcycle wearing a motorcycle jacket, I think of those geeky military aviation buffs that sport something like this to the supermarket...

:/ no bueno
