I'd disagree with this. I think the buttoning of the ToJ makes it look like that.

I've never heard of wearing bombers opened at the bottom. I must have missed that class...

None of them are too small on me. Wearing the TF, I feel I should have sized down.

This is how it is generally styled by fashion houses and magazines.

What's the point of having a jacket with an elastic waist then leaving it open at the bottom? Looks off to me.

And I think the term 'bomber jacket' is way over used. The quintessential bomber jacket is either an A2 or a B3 or similar, and none of these had buttons.

IIRC, the button design is the original A-1 jacket which is the predecessor to the A-2 jacket

Concur.

However, the quality of the suede and the detailing on the TF jacket is in a different league.

I prefer the cut and the fit of the ToJ. The TF feels a little blousy in the midsection probably it has some scope to expand due to the back design while ToJ is cut absolutely plain.

So in summary, you don't really love either.

Sell them both and get one that you love in all respects. You'll be happier that way!

the Tom Ford looks much better and the color is a lot more versatile

snuff suede looks great on shoes, but less so on the upper part of the body (jmho)

the Cucinelli is done in a better color if you like lighter browns

(sadly, I bought a size 46 in the same TF jacket thinking it would be slim fitting, but it's true to size and now I have to sell it)

Perfect solution except that I am unable to find it.

You are correct sir, which is why I said the 'quintessential' as the A-1 was not in service for long and superseded by the (IMO) much better looking A-2. I suspect some of th widespread popularity came from its use in the war and being shown by jaunty fly boys in numerous films.

I wear a 52 in almost all tailored clothing and bought the 50 size in this case but it still is blousy. I thought TF is supposed to fit slim

I'm guessing it's designed to be worn with layers underneath...

I think the ToJ is a better style, though I prefer the fit of the sleeves on the other one.
