Unpitted olives

Had dinner at a "nice" restaurant tonight and ordered marinated olives. It turns out they were not pitted and I was at a complete loss as to the appropriate way to deal with the pits. I was stumped and could not figure out any way to dispose of the pits that did not leave me self-conscious. What is the etiquette here?

Slip them into your hand and back onto the dish that they came from or your individual plate.
If you are very self conscious about even that, you could slip them into your napkin.

I just spit 'em into someone's cleavage. Always good for a laff from the table.

tried to swallow it so as not to be gross. hilarity ensued. seriously, spit into your napkin.

Bring your empty fork up to your mouth and discretely place pit on tines. Bring fork, now holding pit, back down to your plate and place off to the side.
