Just please get something above the knee. Make sure they don't tug at the top of your knee when you walk or run. Try different sizes of the same shorts.

Previous posts... Nike Dri-fits.

http://www.underarmour.com/shop/us/e...rt/1000388-001 Just got these and very pleased (UA blitz shorts). Well worth $35. They run big so go down a size if you don't want them tugging at your knees. The pockets are deep. Google for free shipping coupon codes. The $25 microshorts are OK, but they don't have pockets and then tend to tug at your knees even if you go down a size. The blitz shorts have more freedom of movement.

Nike Dri Fit shorts As a gym head, I stick to the Dri fit collection religiously.

these are the best fucking shorts, go to target right now and buy all them not even kidding i hvae like a million pairs of expensive nikes and underarmour shorts i've accumulated over the years and the target ones are still the best don't waste your money on $25-40 shorts when you could buy three or four pair from target that are exactly the same (or better, in my opinion) having a bunch of them is good too because wearing gym clothes more than once before washing is gross, so i do a lot less laundry when i have a lot of different pairs

I'm having a hell of a time finding gym running shorts that fall between nuthugging and knee length that aren't shiny nylon.

Asics 75 short black $45 "With a 7" inseam and five ready pockets, this Hydrology® short screams to be your go-anywhere workout short. Note the wrinkle free fabric and comfortable ventilation." http://www.asicsamerica.com/products...Y_ID=250001540

The Champion shorts are also available from Dick's Sporting Goods if you are boycotting Target. I have purchased those shorts from Dick's and they are great. The pockets are perfect for my gear (keys, Spyderco Delica, Surefire E2e). I wear Nike Dri-Fit compression shorts underneath to stay drier during my workouts.

Note: there are two lengths of the Champion shorts. The short with only the Champion logo (no "Champion" script) inseam length is longer than the short with the Champion logo and Champion script. I wear the latter because they fit me better.

Personally I am not going to boycott Target but to each his or her own.

No shorty shorts.

Another fan of Champion ... for things athletic.

And Bike for the unmentionable.

I would also say the Nike are a great choice. I have used them almost exclusively for my exercise and speed walking . I love them because they are durable and keep you cool. I must however investigate the Oasics as a future buy.

New Balance has recently come out with some gym shorts that I like for multipurpose/working out at the gym. They have pockets, liner, and a "ICE" contact info strip sewn into the pocket. The Nike DriFit shorts I find are great for running, since they tend to be shorter and don't get in the way. But if I'm just doing stuff at the gym, I like something longer than the DriFits -- which is where the New Balance ones seem to be perfect. But I probably also tend to like longer shorts since I'm 6' 3". Not sure where to get New Balance ones in stores--got mine free through some sort of promotional event at my gym. Somebody must carry them, though.
