I got an email this morning saying "We are concerned we have not heard from you on this order. Please let us know your alternative fabric choice for the sold out fabric p160" in reference to an order I placed on November 17. I got the first email saying the fabric had sold out on November 20 and replied the same day! Now I am wondering if they have even started on my order yet. Grrr. Check your email, Modern Tailor!

They offered to take back the shirt or give me a coupon towards a future purchase. I originally wanted to send it back, but thought that would be too much of a hassle so I just took the coupon. I wish they had more pictures of finished shirts along with the pictures of the fabric because I feel that gives a better idea of what the color really is.

the collar seems nice, what are the specs?

Wow, that's a full 19 days after your order. They notified me 8 days after my order that one of my fabric choices was sold out, but 19 days is inexcusable. I understand that Modern Tailor isn't going to get every order perfect, but when a customer's order is lost or is delayed that much, they need to do something more than just an apology. You should ask them to expedite the production of the shirt for free and possibly offer expedited shipping due to the delay. It seems that's the least they can do.

I use a cheap pair of CT collar stays that came with a Charles Tyrwhitt shirt a long time ago; you can find these at any haberdashery for about £5-10. Edit: Sorry, I meant to mention that the metal ones are about £5-10.

I don't have old collar stays. The other problem I'm facing is 3" collar stays are too substansial for the medium sized collars moderntailor makes.

Don't go with metal. It will damage the fabric more. Collar stays are the one case where cheaper materials is what you want.

Meaning they use your measurements to adjust the pattern-cutting but not too closely. There really is nothing custom made about it. But again, you get what you pay for.

I'd rather spend a little more and shop the discount sites for quality clothing than buy Asian MTM.

Discount sites for 'quality clothing' is not MTM.
What is with people complaining about MT being based in Asia, like that somehow diminishes the quality? Italian/Holland/French MTM companies always get their measurements right and only use the best fabric?
MT meets a price point for customers that want MTM. Period. They don't claim to be anything more than they are. No one here is saying they are any better than anyone else. We are simply sharing our experiences.

Why'd you quote me on that? I didn't say anything derogatory about Asian MTM. I was an Ascot Chang customer for years, and I doubt anybody would say their goods are shabby.

Hi there, we have 20% discounts on FB and monthly promotions since Nov. We didn't run the 20% off last month because of the fall sale at 50% off. This December, we have another set of promotion plus that 20% off if you like us on Facebook.

We will have regular weekly sales at 50% off selected fabrics.
Now, we just put back 19.95 first shirt promo

Hi Bleachboy, we apologize for not being able to check your email on time. It seems that we received no reply from your email ***o**e@*****i*.*** (which I will not publish in this post). I have checked all emails coming from that address and we didn't get any email. We have started part of your large order and we were only following up on the fabric that has been sold out. We already received your latest email. If you can send us the original email which you sent us we can investigate on why there was no timely reply. You may have replied to the auto-generated email message from the system (support_auto@moderntailor.com). It notes in the message that it is an unmonitored mailbox.

I note you sent us a copy of your message to us but you didn't forward it so I can not check on the original mail server information. (if you have gmail account, it's 'show original message'). If you have regular mail account, you can use mail headers. This way we can tell if your servers sent the email out.

Regards,
E

You are right, I looked at it and it came from support_auto. You might want to fix that, though. If you send a message to a customer that requires a reply, they should be able to hit "reply" to reply. Sorry about that!

@bleachboy - no worries

To all our customers who have concerns on shipping, I just did a check on shipments that are pending and those orders which customers in this forum identified as 'not' tracked. Currently, 92% to 95% of all those EMS tracking #s now have updated results based on EMS website. There are just a couple more that I need to follow up with the courier. I have also sent emails to those customers to update them on the status of their shipment.

A few of them - 'attempted' delivery result - to customers which this result, please contact your nearest post office and arrange a pick up... please do it as soon as possible.

Other customers - package already arrived at US customs and US sorting center. You don't need to contact post office for pick up in this case but in a day or 2, you'll get your package.

thank you,
E
