Thanks for the feedback all - I will post a few more pictures that better show the armhole and ke pinching the waist. And yes, I have been wearing a 38s suit which is even on the bigger side for me. ( a 36 fits too tight ).

Seems obvious but not stated all that often: be sure to wash the shirt a few times before making decisions about fit. I speak from experience.

2 suits for 1 - Moderntailor

We're running this promotion now to encourage customers to send us their old (well-fitting) suits. Would like to add a disclaimer that measurements will have a +/- 1-2cm allowance (tailoring industry allowance standards), likely for future adjustments.

great merciful christ where did you get those models

Emma, I assume you aren't going to bring back the old suiting fabrics, are you?

Emma I had a couple of questions for you so I pm'ed you earlier and I also sent a message through the website. Any response would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

What happened to the first time customer promo 19.95 shirt fabric? The link on the site brings up the fabric search with results "not found". I'd like to give this a try after finding a shirt that is very close to what I want, and then modifying it (slightly) for my preferred fit. Thanks!

Ran into the same issue last night...I received the following response from MT: We are sorry that you weren't able to avail of the promo. We have temporarily pulled down our $19.95 promo due to our recent sale. Most of our fabric stocks have been sold out and we are only taking in individual orders of the white/black fabric which we have purchased in bulk previously. We are working towards purchasing the same fabrics in bulk but it will take a couple of weeks before we can replenish the fabrics we are offering at $19.95 (we can only get a reasonable price based on volume of fabrics we purchase and we share the savings with the customer). We hope you understand. You may want to try the fabrics which are on our Weekly sales - these are very good value fabrics and there is still enough fabric. To view our items on sale, please go to http://moderntailor.com/fabricsales. We hope you find something interesting. Regards, Bea

You really need a better selection of suiting fabrics, especially for sport-coats. There's no more than one or two fabrics that are at all suitable for an odd jacket, and those are in boring plain colours.

I wanted to make sure people who read this thread saw the discussion about suggesting a better MOP button option to Modern Tailor. Another member and I took some side-by-side photos of some new options and posted them here: http://www.styleforum.net/showthread...=207640&page=2. It would be great if other people could chip in with their opinions so that I can write back to the sales team and show them that there really is some enthusiasm for this. Thanks everyone!

I was told to post this here.

I been lurking for a while, but decided it was time for me to jump in the discussion.

I decided to place an order with Modern Tailor after reading reviews on the board and my inability to find reasonably priced shirts that fit me. All I can say is that modern tailor has been the most miserable clothes shopping experience in my life.

Week 1

Ordering: The online ordering was a breeze. In lieu of emailing my measurements, I sent my best fitting dress shirt so they could use the measurements and a note telling them to decrease the bicep measurement by about 1/2".

Week 2

The sample shirt arrived at MT and James immediately contacted me to clarify my note. So far, so good. James confirmed the note and said he would send the order to process.

Week 3

Nothing

Week 4

Nothing

Week 5

I contacted MT because I thought the process was taking a long time since I read a lot of people had turn arounds of 2 weeks. My first email via MT's website was never acknowledged. I sent another email to customer service and was told that my order had a production hold on it for some unknown reason. MT followed up and told me that they solved the problem (with no explanation) and that they would ship the shirts in a few days. I was aggravated at this point since the shirts should have shipped the week before (which they acknowledged). I asked multiple times why I wasn't contacted the previous weeks and no one could give me an answer.

Week 7

My order arrives with "my" sample shirt. I open the package and the shirts looked great in the package. Then I looked at the sample shirt. It was NOT my shirt. I felt sick because I sent them my best shirt. I hoped that they only mailed the wrong shirt back to me. Nope!!!! They used someone else's sample shirt to make my shirts and they are no where near accurate.

I contacted MT regarding this issue, but have received no response. I do not think China celebrates Thanksgiving, but who knows.

Sooooo, here I am almost two months from placing an order and I am out $110 and my best fitting shirt.

Thank you Modern Tailor for the worse clothing experience of my life.

so instead of taking everyone's advice and sending in your own shirt measurements you sent in the actual shirt. then, instead of choosing a cheap fabric for your first shirt, you chose a $110 fabric. I cant imagine where you went wrong.

Yeah, it's definitely his fault that they lost his shirt, and made his shirts based on a one that didn't belong to him. Tsk tsk PAESQ, you should have known better.

well, the good news is that if they do not resolve it then i will file a claim with paypal and get my money back. at least i can get some money back.

So I've ordered about 4 shirts by now, but I keep getting the same fit issue: Along the back of each shoulder, I get a little "pooch" of fabric running vertically at the armhole seam. When I stand straight up this extra fabric sticks out...when i sit though like at a desk and move my arms so they're sitting on the desk, that extra fabric pulls more taut and looks better. Any way to get rid of this extra fabric when standing? I'm guessing shrinking the armhole or yoke measurement, but I tried that on the last order and the pooch actually became more pronounced, albeit smaller overall. I'll post pics soon.
