had the same experience in store (with the swatch book) at brooks brothers...without being able to see the actual shirt rather than the fabric up close and personal, tough to tell what it'll actually look like.

any ability to display a full shirt of a given fabric as the icon rather than the close-up of the individual swatches?

I have the same problem man. Other made to measure sites let you see what the shirt in the fabric would look like, usually. For modern tailor I find a shirt that I like the pattern of on some other site, and then I look on modern tailor for a similar swatch. Still, it's difficult.

Hello,

I just received an email from modern tailor that my 2 shirts have shipped. They gave me some In transit tracking number that I can't seem to find out what carrier they are using. I e-mailed them. I'll wait to see if they reply.  Also on the shipment, Does MT still make you sign for all packages on deliveryto the US?

I will take some pics of the shirts once I receive them, to see if you think the fit is good.

Thanks,

Aryeah

Myabe it is not the place to ask but I have two questions:

- Can I order two shirts, but with different measures?

- How much is the shipping to Mexico and how long does it take?

Thanks!

New to the MTO process...  Moder Tailor seems like a good place to start with MTO but would people say there is a better site to start with?  I have browsed the thread and the reviews seem pretty favorable.  Also, it seems like it's recommended to use shirt measurements vs. body measurements; Is this correct?

Any other advice?  Say on materials, weight, fit, measurement taking etc.  Don't worry I'm reading up on it atm.

Dont worry about their tracking..it sucks and never works.  It takes about 2 weeks or so for the shirts to come (to california at least).  Just don't think or try to track it and just let delivery day surprise you.

You can create as many "measurement profiles" as you like.  You'll be ask to pick a profile from your list each time you add a shirt to the cart.  So yes, you can have 2 shirts with 2 different measurements.

Yes, use measurements from a well-fitted shirt.  You don't want to use body measurements because you're allowing them to guess the wiggle room for you. If you don't have a well-fitted shirt, you can obviously go out and get one or try to make self-adjustments to the "closet to a best fit" shirt you already have.

Bumping this as it seems to have been neglected. Wondering what the story is with the twisting of the sleeves, the excess fabric around the lower back, and the excess fabric/creases around the armholes on the front and back of the shirt. I'm now thinking of redecuing the half-waist measurement by centimetre, the chest by a centimetre and the hips by half a centimetre. I think the arms and shoulders are fine but if anyone thinks otherwise... I think I'm also trying to stand too straight in these photos, but I've posted new ones in this thread - http://www.styleforum.net/t/265924/the-tailors-thread-fit-feedback-and-alteration-suggestions/2760_30#post_6105508.

Hey Leah,

I was just wondering if they bow ties are real bow ties. Like the kind that men tie, not the ones that kids snap on.

Thanks allot!!!

Well even with my measurements they made the shirt entirely to big, nearly 5 inches added to the waist from what I entered in. I took the blame for not using a shirt and asked to try again at the "new customer" price, but to no avail I haven't heard back. From what I've been reading they aren't very good when your looking for help AFTER the purchase. Oh well fingers are crossed for a swift reply.

Hey csmilz9,

You should definitely send them an email. They are amazing with customer service. I'm sure they will help you work something out.

Your on the right track. Its hard to give input at a certain point when it becomes entirely dependent on the person wearing it. When I meet up with friends to talk about fit, WW3 starts.

I've bought several dress shirts from MT and haven't had any big issues. Was wondering if anyone has ordered any shirts with a button down collar as I would like to place an order for some oxford shirts. How did the standard measurements for the button down collar look?

So I received my MT shirts and had a chance to try them on. To my suprise the armholes were too small but everything else was pretty close to spot on. So I have contacted them to fix the problem and we are in the process of fixing this problem. I was wondering did anyone else have trouble with this when ordering MT shirts?

I think their explanation of how to measure the armhole is off. They say to measure from the armhole seam to where the armhole meets the sleeve seam, but it looks like they want the measurement from where the shirt crease starts along the armhole to the sleave seam.

I did hear back from them within 24 hours from my email, so I know they will do their best to fix my problem.. Next step is for me to take pictures of the problem areas and send them to them..

Thanks,

Aryeha

Are the discounted blue oxford and black oxford starter shirts the worst fabrics on the site? The material on the blue oxford I received is like cardboard. I'm assuming the other fabrics are quite a bit better. What percentage of fabrics on MT would you say are as good or better than the basic Tyrwhitt fabric?

Hey OptoDoc,

I have referred allot of my friends to the site and have helped them get their initial measurements done. All of us started out with the blue shirt. The one thing I have determined is the Trial fabrics do not always stay the same. My first one was quite a while ago which is different from 2 friends of mine that order them almost a year ago and the most recent ones from 3/4 months ago were again very different.  As for the current fabrics, I'm not to sure what they are like. I think the worst materials was the one from almost a year ago for sure.

As for the other fabrics, I believe they are much better. You can definitely find what you are looking for. I stick to 100% cotton and I never get iron free or easy care. I recommend getting a swatch to find what you like. Its $25 and you get $30 back in vouchers.

Not sure if this will help at all. Just my observation.

Thank you, Panf. Can you use the $30 vouchers together on one shirt?
