Hi Leah,

I recently got a shirt from Modern Tailor and I'm very pleased with it - just need to modify by a few centimeters here and there and it will fit perfectly.

I'm just one person, but for what it's worth, I would start replacing all my shirts with Modern Tailor ones if you had plain whites and plain light blues around the $60 mark (before adding in costs for upgraded buttons, monogramming, etc).

Thanks,
Dave

110% agree with everything this man just said.

The $100 fabrics are definitely nicer. I haven't bought anything cheaper apart from that and the trial fabric which I don't like as much as TM Lewin. But the Lewin cuts don't suit me quite as well I'm finding.

TM lewin 14,5" is too tight for me around the waist, but I've heard they might shrink if I wash them. So if I go up to 15" I could wash them in high temprature and/or put them to tumbel dry (to shrink even more), they will shrink half an inch everywhere, making the collar fitting but still have room around the waist.

That could be an option for you then? Try and shrink a 15".

I have similar issues with neck sizing and shoulders so I can certainly empathize with you!

Third attempt. Ordered just after NPC closed off (16 December), got here 22 December or thereabouts ... VERY impressed with MT's turnaround time this time. Fabric is o653 Green Hairlines. nice fabric. Made the chest a little larger (increased by 3cm), fits way better than my last 2. I also reduced the yoke width by 1cm. However, I reckon I made a error with the sleeve length. I should have added 0.5cm each, but I actually added 1cm each. facepalm.gif You can just tell that the sleeves are a little long, due to the bunching. So, other than the sleeves, is there any other feedback I should take on board for attempt #4? I am generally happy now with the fit through the body, as well as the yoke (but could it come in just a little more again?), but if anyone has any other opinions please share. Note that shirt has been washed and dried.

Shoulder seem should end at your shoulder. Yours rolls over. Looks more like an OTR shirt.
Collar looks a tad tight. It looks like it's pulling at the button. Would increase that measurement.
Armholes are too large.
Sleeves could be slimmed down even more. It looks like your arms are quite skinny.
Would lengthen the sleeves bit as well.

It shouldn't take 4 shirts to get your measurements dialed in.

Will the fabrics in the "MT Collection" range be consistently kept in stock?

Or will they be coming and going randomly like a lot of the current fabrics?

The fabrics for MT collection will be available for 6 months :) That is one of our plans this year :)

Ordered a couple of shirts a while ago, just thought I'd share my thoughts.
The fit is good and true to the provided measurements, which is the most important.
But I would suggest to go for the stiff collar. I found the regular collar doesn't hold up very well after a wash.

Has anyone added darts on MT? Most of my best fitting shirts I've had darted in the lower back by my local tailor. If I opt for darts on MT do I need to allow for extra fabric getting taken in in the measurements (i.e. increase the measurements of the shirt itself)?

Also how far up the shirt do MT's darts go?

I added darts once by a mistake. They do nothing different. The extend to a few inches under my shoulder blade. You don't need them for MT shirts.

Really? I haven't had that problem, and actually I find the regular collar to already be very stiff...

I like the soft collar, I too find the stiff collar too stiff, and way too stiff on the cuffs.

I just wish we could order a soft collar with removable collar stays. That would be perfect for me.
