Do you guys know how the Facebook Like 20% coupon works? I "Liked" them and subscribed to their e-mail list, but I did not get e-mailed my coupon code.

I already placed/paid an order, you think they'd let me apply it?

Same situation for me: liked 'em, no coupon love. I'd email them and ask them to either cancel or apply coupon. I'm waiting for the coupon to place my order.

^They e-mailed me my coupon code, and agreed to apply it to my existing order.

Critiques would be much appreciated. Here are my thoughts.

Obviously, the shoulder is too long. This worked on the shirt I measured, but the angle of the arms was completely different. It looks terrible here. I tend to like wider shoulders than many of the people here, so I'm not going super crazy slim. -3cm (18cm->15cm) on next shirt.

Yoke measures -2cm on current shirt, will reduce specification by -5cm to account for narrower shoulders.

The arms are angled too much. I'd like them to be closer to horizontal from the body of the shirt. Part of this is a function of the too-wide shoulders, but I think the arm hole needs to be smaller as well, to geometrically accommodate the angle I want and the bicep measurement. -4.5cm from half armhole (29.5cm->25cm).

Did you get your remade shirt yet? I just got a shirt with somewhat narrow sleeves (7.5"=19cm) and a large armhole (10.25"=26cm) and I'm getting a similar "batwing" effect that you have in the picture on top, where the fabric on the side of the body gets pulled up and out, and it makes the shirt come untucked, more so than in other shirts that I have. The arm angle for me is also kind of sharp - I'd rather have them go more horizontal.

Did the smaler armholes work out for you? And did they reduce the amount of pulling on the body when you raise your arms?

I reduced shoulder and armhole, and it helped the fit a lot. The arms of the new shirt are definitely more horizontal, and the batwing shrunk a bit. However, I think the batwing effect is still going to be present in any shirt with a big chest->waist drop. I ended up decreasing my chest measurement slightly and increasing my waist, in part to combat the batwing.

Owwwww. No 2-ply $49.95 white fabrics on sale this week. Would so looking forward to placing an order since I think I finally got my measurements down just about as good as I can get.

Hi, PM me your email address or email us at sales@moderntailor.com and I'll check. Must be a slight oversight as we send out coupon the minute we receive the Facebook notice.

Thanks.

Thanks, this is helpful. I may try doing the same next time.

So my initial order to MT got rejected, the 'master tailor' saying that the proportions of my armhole and bicep measurement did not match. I measured from a Uniqlo slim fit OCBD, size XS. My initial measurements submitted were 7.25" armhole and 6.8" bicep. I remeasured this morning afterward and got 7.5" armhole and 7" bicep, but these don't seem very far off from the originals. I'm wondering if there's something obviously way off I'm missing there, but I feel like I followed the measurement guide pretty well. Has this happened with anyone else? I'm worried about increasing the armhole size too much because the nice high armholes of the Uniqlo shirt are specifically what I'm trying to copy....

Well, that's one thing i was wondering too. The yoke and the shoulder length...if we increase the yoke, shouldn't we increase the shoulder as well? Sometimes I wonder whether the measurements I provided make sense at all...

With MT, the shoulder measurement is secondary to the yoke, so as long you provide a valid yoke measurement, they won't take the shoulder into account when making the shirt. They have a guide on their website that explains each of the measurements they use.
