However, with each order, I find more and more patience in myself. Nowadays, I don't even check tracking.

Expecting too much?? I'm expecting to receive my $200 order, is it too much to ask? If my order is lost, then they simply have to file a claim with the postal service and they will get their money back.

As for my other expectations, I simply don't understand why suddenly it takes 3 days or more to get a reply to an email, when not long ago it used to take less than 24 hours. I also don't understand how a company like this does not have a clear policy for lost packages. Every employee in the company should tell me the same thing.

I know what you mean...When I had to make small changes to my order, they would get back to me within 24 hours. They've messed up pretty bad on my order twice, and I got an email from Emerson asking me to provide him some pictures. He ended with "we look forward to your reply." So I reply 30 minutes later, and I haven't heard anything back in 4 days. Modern Tailor used to be excellent a while back. They had great customer service and capable shirtmakers. Now that they're getting more business, they're customer service is starting to stink and I guess they've hired a bunch of shirtmakers, some of which don't really know what they're doing. I'm starting to think ordering from Modern Tailor is either hit or miss now. Not sure if I'll ever order from them again, especially with the slow customer service now.

This is really sad. Why don't you guys just go outside instead of sitting on your computer all day hoping that a perfectly fitted shirt comes in the mail?? And stop being so cheap! Just get fitted somewhere with quality.

So I just had my third try come in the mail the other day. Was excited as I thought I was going to have the fit down by now. The first one (after sendind a shirt in for them to copy) was very baggy and the measurements were very off from the actual shirt I sent it. The second I made my changes to slim the shirt up and shorten the sleeves a bit. It came back pretty fitted but the shoulders were a bit tight and the sleeves much too short (unwearable.) So I made a couple of changes to my third; mostly lengthining the sleeves and giving me a little more room in the torso, and thought that would do it.... Got the shirt, and they were the exact same measurements and shirt number 2. I went in to my profile, updated my measurements, saved them, and some how, some way, the measurements reverted back to what they were previously. I have no clue how this happened, but now I have 3 unwearable shirts. I am pretty disapointed in this. Not to mention that the gauntlet buttonhole was made unseperated (which it did not in my previous 2 shirts??) so I will need to have a tailor cut it open so I can actually button the guantlet button. I thought for sure 3 tries would be enough to get the fit down right, but with stuff like this happening, coupled with what seems like an ever increasing production and shipping time; I am begining to consider just cutting my losses. Anyone have this problem before (measurements not being updated???)

Hi Nadim as discussed with you, we had to wait for our courier to get back to us. Anyway as we agreed, we marked your newest order paid, at no cost to you on the 3rd of Jan 2011 #53273\tnadim.****@****.com\tmoderntailor\t01-03 16:31\t USD:314.8

Here's the story:

- Made an order on November 18, for 4 shirts (+1 free tie, and 1 free cufflinks). This is during the big sale.

- Order was put on hold for 3 days because the free cufflinks were sold out.

- November 29, I receive a shipping notification. Great, at least I'll have my shirts before Christmas!

- Every morning I track where my package is. December 5 the tracking finally says that my package has left China and is in transit to Canada. From previous experience, at that point I should receive my order in a week or so. I'm getting excited.

- 10 days later the tracking isn't showing anything new. It has now been almost a month since I ordered. I haven't received anything. And it looks like my package is lost. And I won't have my shirts for Christmas and New Year.

- So I start emailing back and forth with Emerson at MT. Finally on Dec. 23 he acknowledges that I may never receive it. He says if I have not received it by Dec. 30 they'll either remake the shirts or refund me.

- In the mean time I received other packages that were shipped after the MT package. And another fellow Montrealer received his shirts that he ordered on Dec. 10!

- Dec 28 I receive an email from MT asking me to contact the post office to check if they don't have my package. Obviously they don't. So I email back. I receive a reply asking me to wait until Jan. 6.

- I email back on Dec. 30 because I still have nothing. Emerson gives me instructions to get a re-make (most of the fabrics from my original order are now sold out).

- I submit my new order on Jan 3. I only get a reply on Jan 6.

- On Jan. 4, I emailed them about a minor change to my order and it still hasn't been acknowledge.

- Today, Jan. 7, my order is still not marked as "In Production".

This is a real hassle for a lost package! It will soon be 2 months since my original order! I know it's not entirely MT's fault, but I would expect more than just a re-make in that case. I'd expect a discount, or at least a voucher for a future order.

Why does it now take 3 days to get a reply when it used to take less than 24 hours?

Why would one employee tell me to email on Dec. 30 for a remake, and another employee tells me to email on Jan. 6?

Hi Nadim, first, I'd like to request some consideration that we did not LOSE your package, it is a courier issues and we did not talk to our courier and asked them to purposely lose your package.
2nd couriers are actually on a holiday break so it's difficult to get a reply from them over the holidays. they are also coordinating with other couriers in your country who are also on skeletal force. It's been quite difficult to deal with couriers over xmas. Do let us know though if you never get the package. There is a huge delay in your case and we want to talk to our courier about what happened.

Regarding the delay in the minor change in your order after you submitted the order, i acknowledge that issue. that's not right. I'll look into that.

As an update to your newest order, it's now marked paid - on Jan 3rd - hoping you got confirmation that your extra requests have also been attended to.

regards,
E

Hi,
I had a look at your order history.
Jan 9th 2011 #53496 - in process $109 - service credit provided
I was wondering if you'd still like to pursue with the 53496 order. Please confirm how'd you'd like me to handle the compensation for that.

#52514 - shipped already $109 - service credit provided - because this is already shipped, I can not cancel it anymore. But please let me know how you'd like this issue handled as well.

These 2 are all remake orders.

Regards,
Leah

Hi, echau. We understand your concerns. We had to escalate your issue to the production manager as there were technical aspects of the issue that had to be resolved by our manager, it was quite unique so it took quite some time. We also had to talk to the tailors who made your shirts.

Anyway, I understand Emerson have already issued a remake of the shirt in question on Jan. 9th, Order #53496. Drop us an email at sales@moderntailor.com should you have further concerns.

regards,
Dave and Emerson

Has anyone tried any of the following fabrics?

Purple Stripes - g6
Bleu Marine- g7
Purple Chidori - g33

I am curious about the chidoris in general. What is chidori fabric? Or does chidori refer to the pattern rather than the weave?

Can Modern Tailor make an English spread collar? It doesn't seem to be one of their choices

Just got my second MT shirt yesterday and have been wearing it since. I have this say this time the shirt is excellent. There were no problems with the stitching. The shirt fits well. I oped for the thin MOP buttons, for $2 I think they are a steal. I am going to order one more shirt and see how it turns out and then I will be ready to do a batch order. Thanks MT.

I actually have the purple stripes on the way (shipped yesterday) and a blue mini chidori (k27) that was shipped 12/29. I'll get some pictures when they come in.

On a related note, I always check my orders to be "showcased," but I don't think they show up on the site.

Would be curious to see the purple stripes.

I have only been ordering 80s so far, I would like to get the fit 100% and then order something that feels nicer. Need something in plain white or other staple patterns, any recommendations? Or any specifics that I should pay attention to, like getting 100s or 120s or better?
