In the previews for next week it seemed to me like Capone might have double crossed Nucky. Something Nucky said about the value of a handshake or his word? Maybe Capone changed the terms of their deal in mid massacre?
Some interesting historical aspects to the last episode, which I also agree was the best of the season, if not the series. Most notably, in regards to Luciano's burgeoning heroin trade. When he meets the two undercover narcos, they introduce themselves as Magaddino's men. Nice seeing the mention of Stefano Magaddino, mob boss of Buffalo, and cousin of Joe Bonnano.
Best line was Rosetti on visiting Chalky. "Look at us now We're almost kissing."
Great episode. Nice that they actually had a plan for a lot of subplots that seemed irrelevant to the core story arc. I think a lot of the earlier episodes this season will look a lot better in retrospect after the finale.
