Looking for a decent laptop/messenger bag

I need something for my 15 inch macbook pro. Preferably dark/black leather or nylon. I've been looking at Prada and Gucci bags but they either look to feminine or not exactly what I'm looking for. Currently considering this gucci: http://onfinite.com/libraries/1481097/24f.jpg But it looks a bit like a big women handbag. Price range is up to $300-$400 I usually wear all black or black and blue jeans, so a black leather bag would work fine. Yeah I know I dress boring and safe. Looking for a professional look, but within limits. Wouldn't want a briefcase..yet ... I'm 20.

I was looking for the exact same thing for my 15" MBP, and out of your 3 requirements (Prada/Gucci, dark/black leather and $300-$400 budget) all the bags I looked satisfied at most 2 requirements. Nylon might work, but I didn't check those out.

I wound up going for this Prada one (black leather), but at $1,200 I think it sorta kinda busts your budget. And then some. It fits the MBP snugly.

it's certainly not prada, but i've used this one for four-five years and it still looks good as new. http://www.pacsafe.com/www/index.php...n=detail&id=99

Thanks for the suggestion, but I wouldn't spend that much on a messenger bag. Looks nice though.

That bag looks awesome, not to mention the practical aspects of it! I was also considering this leather Hugo Boss bag: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT and this Incase bag which I found a bit tasteless, but it's really cheap compared to my other options. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT The pacsafe bag is a great compromise. The slim version looks pretty neat too.

cool. i really like mine. it's got all these security things built in, but i've never used them. check out their website because they have other options. mine is plain black, but they have others that are black with white piping and i think they have some gunmetal gray.

Black is good. I'm gonna buy it today. I don't understand one thing. Does the messenger bag have a top carrying handle or not? The description says it does but I can't see it in the pictures.

mine is 5 years old (at least), so i'm not sure if they've had model changes, but it definitely has a top carrying handle. it's very comfortable ... nylon surrounded by a molded plastic grip. here is the exact model i have ... jeez what a sale ... and it very definitely has a grip. as i said, they have some newer models that look a little snazzier, but this has served me very well, if not necessarily in the epitome of fashion.

all of the prada and gucci bags that get sold through those liquidator sites are the absolute least popular models, reason being, they look too feminine for a male bag... so your intuition was right. But you probably aren't gonna get your hands on a brand new brand name luxury bag like that for 3 bills in a desirable style. Plus, laptop + Italian bag = double the fun for a thief. Better to carry laptops in bags that don't scream 'laptop bag'

I have a suggestion that fits in your price range, and desired material (leather, available in black), and it's high-quality construction, but it may or may not fit a style or look you're going for. Custom Hide, a guy who makes custom leather bags and briefcases out of TX, makes some really nice bags at really reasonable prices. http://www.customhide.com/ There are some more slim-line, less "briefcase" like bags that might interest you (and they all can come in black). Ones you might consider include The Barrister Laptop or the Organizer Laptop bags. I've ordered bags from them and love them. After years of abuse and near daily use (including, yes, hauling around my MacBook), they've done just fine. I had to send my briefcase back once for a repair and they took care of it quickly without any problems. But as for style, I guess you'll have to see if it suits you.

I have been using a Freitag for 4 years to haul my MBP around (I keep it in a neoprene sleeve in the bag) and love it. They are a bit bold but you can more subtle patterns or build your own (mine's white with a bit of black) plus they are made from recycled items and handmade in Switzerland.

Granted they aren't as professional looking as something in leather by Prada or Gucci but I've worn mine with a suit without issue.

apple + nice bag = steal me, please get a laptop sleeve and buy a bag that doesn't scream "laptop inside!!!"

I carry a different model of this everyday. They are very different, but I am a huge fan. http://www.saddlebackleather.com/cat...n-Carbon-Black ~ H
