Dying White Shirts

I have a number of white v-necks. I want to make a few of them a light red, or pink, or yellow.

Is there a way to easily/nicely do this? Would, for instance, throwing the shirts in the dryer with a red t-shirt work?

You can easily buy colored v-necks. Just about anywhere.

Throwing clothes in the dryer dries them.

Dye works. But why not freaking get new shirts?

If you're dead set on this, the very least you could do is RIT dye from Wal-Mart or wherever, follow the instructions, and then it will yield crappy looking t-shirts.

Really though. American Apparel, GAP, wherever. 10 bucks or less.

Use red raspberries for pink
Dandelion roots or red leaves for red
sunflowers or celery leaves for yellow

Just boil then simmer them in water for about an hour and then use the water to dye.

this is a rotten idea, go to a store and buy v's in the desired color. they are practically giving them away at Gap for free.

The resulting pink color would probably just look like you accidentally washed it with a red shirt. If you want a thorough solution then use a proper home dye solution like RIT DYE or DYLON. The instructions are not that difficult to follow. If you do it right, you can get a decent result that will set properly and won't bleed in the wash. However, as other posters have indicated, it's probably easier to just buy some new t-shirts. My old ones end up being pretty handy as rags for cleaning up, polishing the car or shining shoes.

His white shirts might fit different. I think dying them is a good idea and I plan on trying this soon. Size M Hanes white tees fit me better than any other shirt in the world, it'd be nice to have some in colors too.

So... I must be doing something wrong. I usually just buy T-shirts that are colored/dyed already. Am I supposed to be buying just white and dying them myself?

Help! Please answer! I am clueless.
