So I work in cosmetics/skincare and I had a guy today ask me if I knew of any skin protective creams he could use. Thinking he meant sun care, I proceeded to talk about SPF protection etc...He corrected me, however; he was looking for protective creams that would help against radiation and skin damage from computer screens.

I thought I'd post this here since I bet some of you have similar concerns.

Btw I recommended a UVB/UVA protective cream (jokingly) and he believed me.

I use one all the time, and I also put a high spf cream on my laptop when I have to work outside.

Perhaps he needs some VGA or DVI protective creams.

He was trying to pick you up. Did he then go into the lingerie dept and ask for Freudian Slips and Erin Go Bras?

Did he look like this guy?

Do LCD screens give off enough for you to need protection from it?

I use a 40" screen for a monitor and sometimes I'm a mere 2-3ft. away from it...I'm a little worried to say the least.

I'd go with SPF 75, minimum.

Most laptop radiation is emitted because of wireless internet compatibility. I did not think about computer monitors giving off radiation, I will come up with some precautionary steps to minimize exposure. Does anyone have any tips aside from reducing usage and keeping distance? Will sunglasses be effective?

I missed this, it's what I had in mind. What is it called and where do I get one?

You know, that's just not good enough.

What this guy needs is *genuine* snake oil.

You find that works well, huh? Too bad I only carry "fake" snake oil.

 lol I was going to say this! Dam Seriously I think the radiation issue was more prevalent when crt monitors were more widely used at the time. I don't think lcd monitors would do anything and if it did, more likely negligible and manifest itself only in a couple of frivolous class lawsuits perhaps
