Feel like I'm going nowhere in life - Page 4

I would say if this goes on much longer you might want to consider therapy of some sort. Maybe you are suffering from depression, you had a traumatic event recently, it would be a pretty normal reaction.

pokey - very sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. I don't have anything to contribute except to say I have been in a similar rut for the last four months and only now do I have a sense of direction on how I want to go about getting out of this rut.

Talking to others helps - There are many people who have been in a similar situation in the past or are also going through this.

On a lighter note, I propose we create a uniform avatar for all those who want to be in "I am in a rut, my life is going nowhere" club.

Baby steps in the right direction can add up to pretty big changes in not too long a time. But you have to know what you want, and have to be willing to put in time and effort to achieve those baby steps.

If you have no part 1 ready, then figure that out I guess.

Dude, your 24 as cheesy as it sounds your lie has barely begun. You can still do just about anything. Having 30k, a degree, and a job (and presumably job skills) puts you far ahead of many if not most 24 year olds. Again, 24 is really young and you've got plenty of chances to change direction. See a therapist. Ignore everyone telling you life sucks. SF is not the type of place to get good advice about this sort of thing, too full of poseurs and "master of the universe" types.

+1 bajillion

I do sympathize about your father. And I am kind of rattled by the incredible amount of "resent my family, I'm trapped, sex and alcohol are life's meaning, etc" sentiment going on around here.

I'm surprised by the amount of sarcasm comprehension fail going on here.

I already feel you are missing your life's calling. You should be a writer for a television show.

I can't tell if you are being sarcastic (fail on my part), but that is actually my dream job, and I would be good at it I think. But I don't want to put in 10 years of sucking dick and risk not making it at all. And living on peanuts to boot in the meantime.

Don't flatter yourself; it's not just you, Metro.

I dunno man, both people who mentioned booze and chicks were joking, and you specifically touched on that.

Nope, I'm 100% serious. I think you're one of the most creative posters on this forum. I got into the "I rate chicks" thread late and I had about 15 pages to catch up on. Quality stuff. It was really good.

Listen pencildick, I'm pretty sure your crotchroll of quarters is the only one I could suck on while speaking at the same time. And eloquently, at that.

But.......You really seem like an angry, bitter wanker unwilling to listen to anyone anyway.

You said you want to write on TV but don't want to take the risk to put in the hard work to get you there. Well newsflash buddy, all those people that are doing that for a living, doing the job you want did put in those hard yards and did take those risks and are probably doing very well out of it now, they didn't just fall in to the job writing a few scenes on the back of a napkin some producer found in a diner.

Maybe if you put the time it took to write those 12,000 or so posts towards doing something meaningful, either for yourself or the community and you would be halfway there....
