Does anybody have any bad experiences with these? I'm not willing to sink $300 in a timberland boot only to be looking for another boot in 2 years.

I just bought the Colrain reissue chukka (79520 Tan Oiled Leather with Olive Canvas) for $105 at the Timberland outlet at Sawgrass Mills (Ft. Lauderdale, FL). They were in the clearance section - everything at 70% off. I saw a 9 or 10 on the shelf and asked if they had a 12. Guy went into the stockroom and came out with the 12s.
