Lights to create lounge atmosphereq

Im living off campus this year and planning to host a few parties with my roomates. The dance party will be in the basement while the first floor will be quiter, lounge like area. I know lights make or break the atmosphere but Im not too sure as to what kind of lights to get. Those singular lights that hang out the ceiling creating a darkly lit atmosphere?

Just want to be different than every other college rager.

Install a dimmer switch.

Dim lights.
