HOW THE FUCK DID HE SURVIVE/FAKE IT?

All I can infer is that somehow Sherlock knew Moriarty wanted him to die and that he had to fake his death (with the help of the girl).

I was reading some forum and they were talking about how Mycroft was never stupid enough to give away all that info about Sherlock without a plan, seeing as Mycroft was supposedly smarter than Sherlock (not only in ACD's books, but in the TV series as well) Someone was speculating that there was a truck next to the building filled with laundry and nets, and remember, John was knocked down immediately after Sherlock fell and disoriented. He would have missed it if Sherlock fell into the netting and rolled out onto the concrete. The assassin was only watching John, so Sherlock had to make sure John did not know what really happened.

In ACD's books didn't Sherlock fake his own death to take down Moriarty's criminal network? It would appear he is doing the same thing here.

Lastly, I kind of like the Moriarty from the movies better than the Moriarty from the TV series, but I think they made the right decision as this is a new, hip version.

Precisely, he went to see the girl in the morgue for a particular reason. Though I dunno about Mycroft not being fooled, I am sure that Sherlock had Dr Watson fixated on him and standing in the right area to make sure the person on the bike hit him correctly. I'm guessing the girl from the morgue helped Sherlock create a double. Its also possible that when Sherlock falls and hits the laundry the girl rushed over sedated him and applied the make-up/blood to make it seem he was dead, then Sherlock had her make sure he was dead considering she worked at the morgue and used a different body in replacement for Holmes' body when taking it to the cemetery. Also of note, Mycroft was not at the cemetery..

I definitely agree with everyones theories. Sherlock told Molly that he is probably going to die and that he needed her. At first it was a WTF moment right after he said it, but by the end it makes sense that he conspired with her to fake his death. Sherlock knew that Moriarty wanted him dead. Moriarty kept referring to their problem as "the final problem." Being the final, it can only mean one thing. I'm sure Sherlock knew that Moriarty would threaten him with the lives of the people that he most cared about. And the hospital personnel definitely came out fast with that gurney, they were definitely in on it. But still, when he went down I kept asking myself, "how the hell does he survive this?" And Moriarty sticking the gun in his mouth and taking his life, floored me. I thought Sherlock was going to take him down with him until that scene happened. It was an episode that definitely kept me on the edge of my seat.

i thought the ending was stupid. even if john was knocked unconscious there's no physical way that molly rushed over and applied makeup and blood on without being noticed when they're in the middle of a crowd. total deus ex machina. some shitty sloppy writing

what if molly had a timed sedative and Sherlock applied everything himself
