Just watched it. I absolutely love it. Moriarity is so well dressed. I love how seamlessly the technology is integrated in. Sherlock Holmes has such a magnificent coat.

I just rewatched it. I feel very unintelligent - I thought the credits were appearing and stopped watching completely missing the last 4 minutes.

Based on the trailer I pretty much want to punch that Holmes in the face. Watched Rathbone's The Hound of the Baskervilles last night. Add in Jeremy Brett and that's all the Holmes anyone needs. lefty

I'm all for reinvention, but that trailer puts me off this one. I certainly haven't read all the Holmes stories, but from the ones I've read, I always got the impression that Holmes was aloof and socially awkward, but never a prick. This guy seems like a prick.

I have watched the second to and I greatly enjoyed it. Sherlock Holmes reminds me of House (who in turn was based off of Holmes), but not in a bad way. Someone of his snark would fit in just fine. And Mycroft's style is excellent.

He would occasionally chastise Watson for "sensationalizing" his cases rather than emphasizing only the cold reason that went into solving them. Also, sometimes he would say "You know my methods, reason it out." And then listen as Watson tried to draw Holmesian conclusions from detailed observations of little facts and then laugh and say "Well done but entirely erroneous."

But he never called Watson stupid or told him to shut up. And he occasionally spoke warmly of their friendship, of Watson's courage, and of his loyalty.

In fairness, no firendship has developed in the series yet; they've only just met. It may well come along in time.

I just watched the first episode, and I think the trailer really misrepresented it. Holmes is a bit of a prick at times but much less so than the trailer would have you believe. He and Watson seem to get along quite well together.

There were a few cheesy moments and the "twist" that Holmes missed was so obvious that Lestrade should have gotten it, but I enjoyed it. The dialogue is mostly good, and I like the actors. I wasn't sure about the guy who plays Holmes at first, but he grew on me. He reminds me of Tom Baker a bit.

I enjoyed them (particularly the second episode). I think the writers have captured the basic spirit of the books and characters well. If you're going to update the time period you need to make the characters reflect the time period to a degree.
