I hope this works out for you, I really do. But I'd be lying if I said that I'm not secretly looking forward to the lulz that will ensue when she inevitably brings another guy home.

The key is to shut her off and to try to force her into strictly friend status. Then use her as a connection to her hot friends.*

*this requires her to have a good supply of hot friends. If not, the desire to bone her might outweigh the desire to keep boning her friends

Ya. The highest you see people recommend is like 33%. I personally wouldn't spend that much unless it was for a mortgage. I'm spending just over 20% on lodging. I still feel guilty about eating out every lunch. It feels like a waste of money but I can't bring myself to pack a lunch. Were I the OP, I'd dump almost everything extra into savings until you have 3 months in cash. Then I'd drop back to something more realistic over the long-term, and would gradually increase cash holdings to 6-8 months living expenses. Having this takes so much weight off when you're out of work. I did this before I quit my job and relocated and it helped me be really relaxed for interviews because I wasn't going to be desperate if I didn't get the job.

Where you live can have a big effect on what percentage of income you spend on housing. As a recent (may) law school graduate I'd love to be only spending 25% on Shelter (inc. utilities/etc), shit I'd be fuckin ecstatic. But then I live in Chicago, which while its not NYC, is still going to mean somewhat high rent, however I have less expenses in other areas, for example my total commuting expenses is $85 a month for cta pass. What I mean to say is that a person's income and total situation may require that housing eat up maybe 40% of expenses.

Also, to OP - you're thinking 50% on housing/entertaining and saving the other half? What, you have no loan payments? Lucky....
