Tan Shoes: How Dark a Suit Can I Go?

I bought some new AE's in walnut and I'm having a hard time matching the color. Would a dark navy suit look appropriate? What about dark grey? Any pics of light brown shoes paired with darker suits would be excellent.

Also, I purchased a matching color belt on ebay, but I've found that it looks ridiculously light compared to the shade of fabric on almost all my pants. Is it ok to go medium/dark brown with the belt?

BTW, these are the shoes:

I don't like those shoes, which is neither here nor there, but I wear lighter shades of tan than that with navy. Did it yesterday.

I love navy and grey with tan shoes. I do prefer mid-shades over dark. A belt in a darker shade of the shoe colour is usually a safe bet.

Both are fine, I regularly wear both my navy and charcoal suits with tan shoes. The charcoal though is probably not as dark as 'charcoal' usually is, it's noticably grey rather than being almost black, but it's still pretty dark.

Thanks, I practically stole them in an ebay no reserve auction.

To wear these with a grey suit I'm assuming the belt should be a couple shades darker....

Thanks for weighing in everyone.

I think you can wear them with navy (probably not midnight) and most shades of gray.

The strict rule followers will say it's not appropriate to pair tan shoes with dark colored suits, but the rule followers aren't necessarily the most stylish to begin with.
