I could see that. I was expecting the rise to be low since I've read a lot about it before purchasing it. First low riders I've ever bought and when I sat down my ass crack was exposing no matter how much I tried to rise the back. The thing is though I wear under armor compression shirts all the time and are always tucked in, so when I sit all people are gonna see is a black compression shirt covering my back side. Thank god for those or I would have probably returned them also since I'm not a fan of having my boxers showing.

I have a "stupid" question...how old is "too old" to wear low-rise jeans (like Somet)?

Does anyone know how much the Somet 003 cost in Japan?

I picked up a pair of 030 when I was over in NYC last week. The quality is amazing, not entirely convinced on the rise on them since I've got them home but still very wearable.

What's the consensus on sizing down in the 003? I'm a true 29 waist, I take a 27 in the old APC PS measurement (before they changed the sizes around) and take a 28 in almost every other brand (Levis 511, JCrew 484).

I actually purchased a pair of Somet 003s in size 28 second hand about a year ago. They fit okay at first, but eventually stretched way too much in the waist/seat area. I am only 5'2", so the low rise is not a problem and is actually something of a blessing. I'm just not sure whether I should size down 1 or 2 sizes.

Any advice on these and whether I should go for a 27 or 26?

Hi all,

I just recently returned from a trip from japan. I went to all the denim stores there at Ueno and some in Shibuya, i went on the somet jeans website and noticed that the official store was opened on the day when i was in Tokyo. i looked here (http://www.somet.co.jp/) for the calendar of days that the store is opened:

by store i mean back of some dudes garage, literally.

I purchased a pair of 008 Slim Fit indigo jeans (size 29), i ended up paying approx. $270AUD converted. I believe there were around 21,000YEN. I tried on the 003 jeans and found them nice and tapered around the legs compared to the 008, but they felt much looser around the bum/thigh's. the owner/director of Somet said there are called "writers pants" as they are comfortable to sit down in and ride a bike in.

store front:

where to turn when you reach the block:

im really happy with my purchase, i wore them all through my 2 week holiday in japan to work them in. Reccomended!

FYI - i wear size 29 in APC PS

Most recent brand to hit my radar. Very intrigued by the 003 cut and the generous thigh measurement. Putzing around BiG and looking at various measurements, etc. Will have to investigate further.

I have a pair of 003's. Shit is awesome. Don't fool yourself though, measurement wise... They are really slim.

What model are these? First "real" pair of Japanese denims. The pictured jeans are actually a 30 and not a 29, I got the grey cast in the 29, it fit a touch larger.

Those look odd in the topblock.

I'd love to say its the jeans, but its not, it's me. They're a little big other waist but not much...I'll post a better pic

I thought so allready. You could easily have sized down one for a cleaner fit.

By the way, Somet's are not really intended to wear around your "natural" waist, they are supposed to sit low, hence the vanity sizing on the models. A pair measures a full two tagsizes bigger in the waist to accomodate the fit.

Those look like they could be the writers pants. They should be worn lower and look saggy.

More wear in these...and wearing them a bit lower. The 29 was just too tight in the thigh....I'm thinking a warm soak in a few weeks may clean up the sloppy top.
