It's closed now. I visited on the last weekend they were open at the end of August. The woman working in the shop told me they would only be selling over the web in the future.

I sorta want to buy a pair of the straight legs from BIG for my birthday. I'm scared of the rise though and I never really see these with a relaxed fit which is what I kinda like. I want them to look like my APCs

I don't know why everyone gets so caught up in the rise of these jeans. I don't know what the measurements say, but my 003's have a more comfortable, higher rise than my New Standards.

I'm looking at the 003 which seem to have the same rise as 005. I would think a size 31 would do me good but the rise on my size 30 New Standards are 1.25" longer and the back rise is .25" longer. I guess that isn't too drastic but not sure how that 1.25" less of denim will feel while sitting in class.

They will sorta look like how you wear your APC in your pic (esp if you don't downsize), but you will notice a difference with that rise and top-block design. But they are a slim, slightly relaxed cut, especially if you wear them low like intended. Order them, and since they're sanforized, try them on. If it's too radical a departure, exchange them. The top block is a much more sophisticated fit than APC NS, so that 2" plus difference may not feel as dramatic as you think. But it is enough for some people to dislike it. Really? Hows that crack smoking going? More comfortable, yes. "Higher" though?

I thought I remembered Noriko pronouncing it "suh-MIT" at BiG on my first visit a few years ago.

OT - Haven't seen her there the last few times I've been. Anyone know if she still works there?

I just recieved a pair of 003s from Context, and all I could say is "wow." Quality of denim and construction are top of the line. Currently, the fit is spot on, would you guys still recommend a soak?
