somet denim.. - Page 26

What I'm worried about is that the legs are already a little wide for my taste.

Actually a better way to put it is that if they were any wider, I would not be happy with them.

I know the waist will stretch since it's so unbearably, extremely tight. I'm just worried that the legs will also stretch. But I guess since it's already loose/not tight, it won't stretch, and only the waist will?

Someone make me feel better about this..

Theoretically the waist will stretch because you're regularly applying pressure to the length. You aren't to the leg, so it wouldn't stretch by the same mechanism.. besides, have you ever put on a pair of jeans and just lit up and grinned, because they were the exact fit you were looking for? If you have, that's neat, but I've never had that.. all the jeans I can remember buying were a game of compromise when I got them, but I eventually grew to love them to death. I'm not saying settle for something you are uncomfortable with, I'm saying it is likely they will grow on you. On that note, I'd like to say I'm returning the 003's I purchased for similar reasons. The waist was not unbearably tight (fit right) but the rest of the fit was not an ideal slim-straight. Huge in the lap, and a bootcut looking leg.

are you gonna try the 008's then?
Nah, I'm still set on the 003 but I need a size smaller. The 008 are too slim. I didn't calculate the hip measurement aspect on these, which didn't turn out well for me. Where'd you get yours from?

The 003 is a straight fit. So unless you size down to about ten sizes... The legs will still be a bit wide, as opposed to the 008 which has a slightly lower rise and tapers down from the knee. I think it's a fit (as in cutwise) related problem. What I don't understand is that the waist is incredibly tight, while your legs have sufficient space. How's the build on your body and how do you wear them?

I took a 008, the waist indeed killed me the first days, the thigharea was fine, a really slim fit, almost skintight... The part from the knee down almost chopped my legs off, it was that tight. Now, after 3 weeks of wear, the waist is fine, the thigh and knee-area loosened up a bit, the fit is now just like it should be.

I didn't soak by the way. Instead off that I did account for shrinking with wash, so if the time is there to wash I'll probably have a snug... Or too snug fit, lol.

That's an amazingly concise description of every favorite pair of jeans I've ever owned, c00kz

The character of a pair really doen't show itself for a while. That's the gamble on any new pair, as well as the rewarding part when it's right.

Just got my pair of 008s today. Took me about five minutes to shoehorn into these. They definitely do have the lowest rise of any denim I have worn.
the 008 with a 1.5" higher rise will be the most perfect jean ever if it is made.

^^ fit pics?

I tend to make girls envious of my legs when I wear mine

If you guys want a summer-weight version of the 008/003 but with a slightly higher rise, check out the pics of the Dry Bones Red-D I just got. These were to be my competition jeans against Mistral, but these are fucking light. Totally not up for a 3-month winter competition, but watch out come summertime.

I'll be doing the FH BSP I have coming for the head-to-head with Mistral.

Meantime - Red-D (had the 003 and these are close - except 9.5 rise/7.25 l.o.)

Those look great. And believe it or not, I took my somet out of the packaging (they were to be returned) and tried them on before I sealed the box and realized I had no idea what I had an issue with originally. They fit so great, I've never had a pair of jeans fit so nicely before! After deciding they were a keeper, I did a hot soak and have been wearing them ever since. Man, they were rigid as nails at first but they're comfortable now. They fit super slim in the thigh and open up to a conservative slim-straight leg opening which fit over my GT well (largest boot I own). The chainstitching is coming undone in several places (bummer) but an email to Gordan let me know I can bring them in to the store whenever to get them restitched free of charge. I'm going to the city late december so it fits well with my schedule but I imagine it's a hassle for someone who regularly lives in ca like me.

Right on c00kz! I'm glad they worked out. There's always that crazy 'breath holding' phase with fits like that. I find my favorite jeans, um, weren't, when I first wore them ;-)
True. I tried them on late at night in the dark of my dorm room before reaching the conclusion that they weren't for me, lol.. probably jumped to conclusions too soon. It's likely I was so worried my investment wouldn't be realized, so I freaked out too. But I'm glad these fit as well as they do. As a short guy these have a bit of lengthening effect on my legs, which is nice, as it makes me look a little bit taller- at least proportioned correctly. That seems to be the case with unisex jeans.. which these do remind me of.

@ Mlyngard:

Dude, nice fit on the Rag and Bones. Love it!

My pair of Somet's is now on 5 weeks of constant wear. I'm thinking about a soak to stiffen it up a bit, but I'm not sure yet. The fit is like perfect after stretching. I'm glad I didn't go with a size 26.

Not too much difference yet, the creases begin to form on the hip area and I've gotten some wear on the knee area. Backpocket fade is on its way too and the honeycombs are coming along nicely, along with some nice stacking

Will post pics soon.
