Cowboy hats?

So I do a lot of horseback riding and farmwork in general and a hat is pretty darn useful. I realize most folks on here would never even consider wearing a cowboy hat, but to those who do...any recommendations of a good straw hat and a good felt hat?

Don't ride myself but live in area where many people own, breed, raise, and board horses. Many of the stable owners/hands wear Stetson's.

Stetson is definitely the big name in felt hats, Resistol also. Straw hats, I don't have much experience with. For doing farmwork etc, especially in crappy weather, you might not want a hat that's too nice. I probably wear my cheap wool felt hat more often than anything else, though I do live in a pretty cold climate.

To the vast majority of non-cowboys any felt hat with a broad brim looks nice and even dressy. To cowboys, "nice" seems to start at about a 4X Stetson, I'd say.

I like a good palm leaf cowboy hat, either Stetson or Resistol. The palm is light and cool for those long days in the sun.
