Hightops vs Lowtops on various heights???

I'm 5 feet 8-9 inches tall. When I wear shorts I usually wear lowtops (asics) but I wanted to mix it up and buy some nice margielas/common projects/raf simons but most of these are high tops.

My question is do high tops and shorts make people look taller or shorter? I mean less of the legs are exposed so don't people look shorter? Also what about in jeans?

Pretty sure the only footwear I'll ever wear with shorts is sandles .. and even then, like 90% of the time its barefoot.
