Cause it was a fucking retarded story-line concept in the comics and I see no reason to bring it to the film, "reinvented" or not.

So are they going to fake-kill Cap in a Cap 2 movie before this gets released, or...?

This is how I see it happening: someone in the IP suit, likely controlled or hired by Mandarin, makes Tony the bad guy in the public eye (via set-up or blackmail, whatever). Maybe even beat him badly in public, thus resulting in injuries and then he turns into his alcoholic addiction. It turns out the guy operating the IP suit is actually infected with the Extremis serum that Killian provided to him, also being controlled by Mandarin. In the end, Stark conquers his alcoholism problem and merges with the Extremis nano tech to his body and then defeats IP. Then teases the Avengers 2 future villain.

They have already said they won't touch the Demon in a Bottle story, so anything related to him being an alcoholic is out.

It can still work w/o him being drunk. Forgot that Disney owns Marvel there for a second.

The good guys will seem to be losing at first, will definitely be arguing with each other in the middle, but in the end will certainly win in the most crowd-pleasing fashion, don't you worry.

Firepower is also supposed to have a small part of this film. Maybe he starts out as a villain, IM beats him. Then he gets the Extremis serum, suits up as IP and beats IM.

Looks like it'll be Eric Savin/Coldblood-7 will be inside the Iron Patriot suit.

That's actor James Badge Dale ("The Departed," TV's "24") as Eric Savin, one of the villains of "Iron Man 3." In the comics, Savin is a soldier who is gravely injured in a land mine explosion and reanimated as a cyborg called Coldblood-7. It looks like the movie merges his character from the books with the Iron Patriot armor (which was worn by Spider-Man's nemesis Norman Osborn, aka the Green Goblin).

Then Sony should stop making shitty Marvel super heros movies like the new spiderman or the fantastic four.
Leave heros to Marvel studio and count the cash.

Spider-man may not be looking fantastic so far, but it's certainly not feeling like a shitty movie from what I have seen. We don't know jack about the Fantastic Four reboot, so how can you comment on it in such a way?
post #824 of 1032
Like it or not, but Sony makes way too much money from both franchises.

Here's how much each movies made:

FF4 1 = $330m
FF4 2 = $288m
SM1 = $821m
SM2 = $783m
SM3 = $890m

FF4 didn't seem like it made much but it did more than double it's budget.

reading all this iron man 3 stuff, itd be cool if they could just do a superhero sequel without introducing like 15 new villains.
