"mix things up"? Haven't heard about the movie - quick explanation? I know it was postponed in the studio for a long time because of MGM's death or something like that...

I agree. Just pointing out that the change might not be because of product placement. That's all.

I don't know any real details. Just skimmed that he would be having a beer a while back and that they thought it would be a fun change.

Truth, I think the comment that resonated with me was his hesitancy to tell "someone else's story". He is a guy who is much more excited about creating his own characters. The other stuff he may engage in essentially for homage, and obviously that's enjoyable, but it does not seem to be what interests him from a creative point of view. Given how huge the time commitment is to making a 200+ million dollar movie that has to combine multiple franchises, you can see why that might dissuade someone. I still think he'll do the sequel, though. He's really the only reason this movie was actually good. It could very easily have been terrible.

Even Daniel Craig admits the film wouldn't be made if it weren't for that $45mil sponsorship. He isn't he happiest about it but it seem necessary.

I never heard of them talking about "mixing things up" either. If anything, they are actually going back to the classic Bond, he's even driving a DB5 in this film. Aston likely paid for that product placement but at least it's part of the OG Bonds to drive an Aston and a classic DB5 at that. Ford owned Aston during Casino Royale and that is why they slipped in Bond driving a Mondeo.

Now if they can just get Rolex to pay up and get rid of Omega, Bond is actually mentioned wearing Rolex Explorer in the book.

I saw it, and I was blown away. And I’m going to see it again this weekend. I have no problem adding to the amount of money it’s making! [Laughs.] Joss Whedon is a genius, and it’s an incredible cast. I was very, very jealous, and I wanted to jump on the screen and play with them. It killed me that I wasn’t in it, but I understand why, and I’m not insulted. But hey, if Samuel L. Jackson wants to give me a shout, I’m there for the next one!

How the hell can they get "Battleship" make, but a new Bond movie needs $45 mill in sponsorship money to get shot? eh.gif

Because MGM that holds the Bond rights was having a lot of financial trouble, while I'm guessing Hasbro is doing well with all the toys/games it puts out.

Watched Avengers a few days ago, how boring, banal and predictable. The special effects were awesome though. Any thoughts on comparing it to Watchmen? There's no comparison in my head, Watchmen wins by a mile, but I'd like to know what others think.

Watchmen = Great comic book, fuckt movie.

I like the Watchmen movie. I think Snyder did a good job considering the comoc book itself could have been a trilogy of films. He didn't take too much liberty with the material either. Would have I liked to see a giant squid in the film? Sure! But I feel that Snyder made the change to make it make sense.

I liked the Watchmen movie, but thought Avengers was an all around better film.

i liked the avengers way more. much funnier, way more action, more enjoyable story, and it did not try and bore me to death or kill me with a huge blue penis.

Watchmen was visually nice, but really lacked the excitement and fun that Avengers had.
