The Walking Dead (AMC) - Page 23

Acting was so bad in this episode... I actually started counting the amount of horribly delivered lines, and I think 5 different characters were guilty of it...

Care to point them out? I want to re-watch the episode and the show as they deliver them.

I thought it was great. *shrug

The show is not without problems, but I enjoy it, I guess it all depends on why you're watching the show to begin with. I watch tv to shut off my brain for an hour, so I'm not offended by things that don't "add up".

At least it's better than True Blood.

Ummm, have you ever fired an AK-47? Accuracy isn't exactly one of its selling points, nor for that matter is length or weight.

I can't put my finger on which of the more peripheral characters are important if at all. It's like we can't sympathize with anybody in the camp because they die or leave. the characters should pick up more weapons as they go along...but good call on firing the writing staff. the dialogue was a joke at times and many scenes predictable. I hope they limit the cgi effects because they're also a joke. anyhoo, i'm primed for a second season already.

A not entirely horrible essay arguing that the writers didn't seem to know what they wanted to do with the characters.

FWIW, I really like the Boondock Saint.

Ummm, yes, I have.

There is no reason to have tack driving accuracy for this use we are talking about. And an AK variant is relatively short and light compared to most other rifles with equivalent or better firepower. AK's are incredibly effective tools. If you have ever shot or held one you would agree.

I wonder what they're going to do with the Mexican guy + familia who left to Florida or wherever they went.

In terms of writing, and quality, it's right up there with Oz IMO.

This is a big problem with the comic as well - at several junctures he introduces large numbers of characters, without enough distinguishing characteristics to even tell them apart let alone develop any connection to them, and then he kills them off in en masse.

The show is even worse on this point, though, as there have been several scenes where my reaction was, "wait a minute, who the fuck are those people and where did they suddenly come from?"

this actually makes sense to me

Ypu might be right, but this logical device is one of the least valid.

Do you mean Scrappy Do?

"Scrappy Do" script:

Scrappy Do picks up an axe/crossbow/clenches fist and runs at person X, shouting "You sum bitch, am gonna split yo skull"

Team member holds back Scrappy Do

Scrappy Do "Let me at 'im, you sum bitch, let me at 'im"

(Scrappy Do then immediately backs off and calms down, while still looking ever sweaty)
