Will not matter, the two are totally different at this point.

I just finished watching the last episode of season 2.

The whole thing had become utterly preposterous and I see that this whole Whiny Thread is justified!

It's been slightly redeemed by Rick eventually killing Shane, and Dale who had become such a ridiculous mother hen figure also dying. The samurai with the amputee zombies looks fun too.

But really the whole season 2 has no foundation at all - the first thing you'd do is use the abundant maps everywhere to find fortifications, improve and barricade them, build walls, make organised contingency plans, set up an organised decision process. They just lurched about from one crisis to another and it got very tedious.

As has been said, the farm being "protected" by some sticky mud was utterly ridiculous. They had an idyllic place to live a great life - they just needed to put up 15 foot walls, get organised and have better characters. Shane, Rick, Dale and Hershel were just all far too extreme too.

I did laugh out loud in episodes 11 to 13 though, when Carl kept popping up out of nowhere, in the middle of the night, in the middle of dangerous woods, at the top of a barn... wearing his gay little cowboy hat

I wouldn't say totally different. The finale basically lined the show back up with the comics plotline and for the most part it's been following the general arcs from the comic (just taking a longer way to get there and IMO not as good). If you read the comics you'd basically know about the things they foreshadowed in the finale.

okay but if they did all that then it wouldnt be much of a show would it...i want to see that hat flying in the air with Carls head still in it (too much?)

I haven't read the comic so I don't know where it's going, but I detest Lori, so I know where I'd like it to go. Now that we know everyone is a carrier does this include Lori's fœtus too? If so, I'd like to see what happens if there's a miscarriage. I assume the fœtus would reanimate... as a zombie. And would then start eating.

Yeah it would be less annoying, but a much shorter and less entertaining show for it.

Haha at Carl's head - I'd like to add Lori's to that toooo

So I assume that their limited budget (along with bad writing) contributed significantly to the extremely slow pace and limited set list for this season. Any signs that they'll have more money to work with next season?

You'd think so, considering that it's the most popular basic cable series ever, but AMC apparently has a history of starving hit shows for funds. There was a recent announcement that they're continuing their location shooting in the same small town in NC, FWIW.
