Shooting?

Does anybody around here do any shooting? I've always thought it'd be awesome (and blue-collar) to get out and kill some geese or something, but I don't know how plausible this is. For reference, I spend most of my time in New Hampshire and Vancouver.

Also, does anybody know some good shotguns? I'm in the market.

Blue Collar? What does shooting have to do with being blue collar? I know plenty of Blue and white collar people who shoot. I also know a bunch of blue and white collar people who hunt. Not really the same.

Last I checked there were no blue collar people hunting on the ranch where VP Cheny shot his friend. By the way he was using a 28ga O/U Perazzi when he did that.

As far as shotguns go what are you looking for? You can get a good no frills Remington 870 pump that will lat your lifetime for $150. Or you can spend thousands. What do you want it for? Deer, dove? geese? Pump? Auto? O/U? Trap & Skeet?

Way to many factors here.

Ah, maybe it's not blue collar (or awesome), that's just what I thought. In Canada, shooting isn't very common, so I really don't know for sure. Sometimes I worry that I'm too bourgeois, so I go play a game of raquetball or try to take up shooting to even the score. Are there deer shotguns? I used to bowhunt moose, but it was just sitting at a stand the whole frigging day and waiting. I'd like to hit the fields, throw back some whisky, and hang out while waiting to kill some birds. What's the deal with automatics? I've tried skeet shooting and stuff with friends and kind of like the convenience of a pump-action. Do automatics take that to the next level? Also, I dunno if you shoot, but do you find that a side-by-side or over-under doesn't allow you enough shots when game comes out?

You play raquetball in hopes of not appearing too bourgeois
Methinks you should stay away from shotguns.

0 for 2? I've always looked at racquetball as a less elitist version of squash (which is what I actually play - was kidding about racquetball). What's left? Chewing tobacco? Catfish noodling? 4srs though, I've enjoyed shooting at a range, and I'd like to see what it's like fo realzeez. I'd like to get a shotgun and make this happen - are there any good (and good looking, in case I hate it and it ends up being a wall decoration) shotguns in the $1000-or-less range?

Why would you spend that much on a shotgun? Get a Remington autoloader.

Good old Remington 870 will cost you next to nothing and will last forever.

Actually just get a Saiga 12.

It's more fun.

Hmm, certainly asking for gun tips on this forum was a foolish move. Thanks for the tips to those that gave them.

Yeah, he needs to be a little more subtle while trolling - he blew his wad when he mentioned drinking booze and shooting guns.

But I used to go to this event at Christmastime called Santacide, at a warehouse in Oakland in the 'hood. This guy would have this table set up with 0.22 pistols facing this berm set up with trees decorated with ornaments along with busted out T.V.s with Santa toys in them. We'd drink ale, Scotch, and homemade fruit brandy while shooting the ornaments. It was fun as hell, and when you walk outside, all of the locals are on their porches and sidewalk looking at us wondering what the hell all these white people are doing shooting guns in a building.

Sweet.
