Which one is healthier? And which do you prefer?
Recently I got really addicted to nachos. I make a low fat cheese sauce that I pour over them with just a little guacamole.

Kind of a loaded question isn't it, because the correct answer to which one is healthier, is neither. That said, well made nachos are awesome, i.e. Waterfront Ale House (Atlantic Ave Brooklyn and 31/32st and 3rd Ave Manhattan) venison chili nachos. As far as a stand alone item, generic potato chips are kind of a waste, but the kettle chips salt and vinegar are good, and if you ever have the opportunity to dine in a Spanish restaurant, freshly made thick cut fried potato "chips" are sickeningly good (i.e. you eat so man, you invariably get sick). If you want to try and be healthy, the Baked Lays, esp the flavored ones, are decent, but as with all "diet" products, most consumers will just eat, and then buy, more. Best snack food IMO. . .instant popcorn with no fake butter, 120 calories or so for a decent size bag

potato chips, if only because of these:

nachos only because you're dipping it in salsa, assuming of course you make your own salsa with fresh tomatoes and such, and not that slop they put inside bottles.

I used to be addicted to nachos and had an unfortunate incident where I happened to contract a serious stomach virus the morning after eating a bunch of them. Let me just say that salsa is much more enjoyable to go down your throat than to come up. I haven't regained my love entirely, but I have been craving them somewhat lately. I don't eat potato chips, nachos are far superior in my opinion.

There is no which one is better. All fried foods are bad for you unless fried in coconut oil, grass fed lard/beef tallow, and/or butter. If you can fry it yourself in those sources, you can theoretically eat as much as you like and stay generally healthy.

Did you mean tortilla vs potato chips? As I see it nachos are an actual dish with many varieties (]buffalo wing, Thai chicken, traditional Mexican etc.) while tortilla and potato chips are ingredients or stand alone snacks.

Nachos with guacamole. It's no contest. Commercially produced salsa is kinda gross though. I've always loved Cape Cod potato chips too, but nothing tops good guacamole.
