Starcraft 2 - Can't wait!!

I'll have it in the mail on release day from amazon. The original game consumed my life during middle school. I dread to see if it has the same effect on me now like a decade later lol.

mass carriers = INSTANT WIN

Seriously though I wanna see who are the inner nerds here. Well, aside from the fact that we're all already posting a message board about clothes, which is pretty nerdy.

Shit's going to be awesome. The teen rating makes me feel this may be watered down a bit though

nothing wrong with dressing well, having a social life and playing Starcraft. I don't even know if I will buy one for myself since there isn't much time to play it.

The rating can mean so little. I didn't have the chance to play beta, but my friend did and he said the graphics are beautiful, and definitely not too "cartooney" like WoW. There is probably just less swearing and blood, but I don't mind that.

I'm looking forward #1 to campaign mode. The end of BW left me bewildered to know what happened. After I finish campaign, it'll probably just be UMS for me though. I loved making UMS maps back in the old game, and that was before I even started getting into programming and web design. Making all those triggers for my old UMS maps was like early programming for me, so I wonder how I'll be now that I have a little more coding under my belt.

I just dislike ratings in general, they don't really do much at all. If a kid wants a Mature rated game, he'll get it one way or another and then you have Mature rated games that get pissed on with kiddie-safe features (EA puts language filters on all of their multiplayer games, and only just removed them from BFBC2). Also, when I play SC, I expect hundreds of zerglings to burst into pools of blood and marines to be sliced in half. Definitely loved playing UMS, barely played regular games, too boring for my tastes (though I do tend to play turtle)

When Diablo 2 came out it pissed me off they rated it M so I had to get my parents to actually pay for it haha. I love WC3 and SC was awesome, I'll probably get SC2 eventually but after the initial buying madness slows down. All Blizzard games are awesome because they don't have deadlines, they release the game when it's ready. Even WoW is a great game although I don't play anymore.

Never been hot on the original; Warcraft 3, on the other hand...

I haven't looked at anything SC2 since about last spring. Didn't want to spoil anything. But damn those TV commercial clips Bliz has on Youtube hyped me up big time. Counting down till Tuesday... SC was the first game I really got into enough to stay up all night, not go out, forget about studying, etc. At least now I can take vacation days if need be. Hopefully my computer runs it, might have to get some new parts. I loved the end of BW. You knew they weren't done. But it was still a good point to stop at. Kerrigan being the ultimate bad ass and kicking the shit outta everybody.

This is going to be ruined by the fact that half of the point of playing it will be online multiplayer which will be pointless in light of the fact that people will play 12 hours a day and dominate anyone who doesn't take it seriously, possibly come up with strategies that take advantage of design deficiencies (zergling rush anyone). I might give it a try for the 1p campaign at some point if I'm bored.

So true. It becomes a job to be good at online MP. I will probably get it for old times sake.

Diablo's going to be even worse... remember D2? People parsing the minute effective advantages to one item over another and their effects within the game's programmed rolling system with such precise attention to detail you might've thought it was a mathematics sim, not an RPG. I get enough complexity from tax law, I don't need it in a damned video game.

SC has been like that for years. Find a group of friends to play with. Guys who don't care too much about what jaedong or bisu are doing every day. It will be more fun when everybody just wants to goof off and have a good game instead of get frustrated about what their rank is.

actually there are 5 leagues now (diamond, platin, gold, silver, copper). you play placement matches and considering your win/loss ratio the match making system will put you into one of them. if you know that better units need vespine gas you are not in the copper league ..

I see what they're trying to do now by eliminating true LAN play, not that I agree with the ethics of it. And man, really wish I hadn't flipped my beta key. I might even intentionally lose my first five matches while I get everything sorted out and then work my way back up.

there are 5 different levels of ai. you can play co-op versus ai to train, 2 humans versus 1 computer. there are guides which will give you achievements. so say you play ffa versus 7 dumb computer players you get a medal for it. playing the extreme ai is hard because it cheats. and it knows cheese like reaper rush etc. if you managed that you are fit for your league games ..
