The Wolf vs. Goat "Redemption Jean" Thread

Thread Starter
Hello StyleForum! We thought we'd make a thread to discuss the upcoming Wolf vs. Goat "Redemption Jean." We'd love to get feedback from you guys on the jean, and we'd also love to hear any suggestions you may have. Here are the first pictures of the jean which is constructed of 14.5 ounce Italian denim from the finest denim mill in Italy. The waistband, pocket bags, and lining of the back pockets are all made of red 8.5 ounce red twill (the same that was used on the red Wolf vs. Goat chinos): Here is the first official sneak peek at the jeans on our blog - http://bit.ly/9K4nzG I'm sure Mauro will chime in with more details about The Redemption Jean. In the meantime, what do you guys think?

Hey guys,

First off sorry for the CvF machining. I have made it my NUMBER ONE priority in constructing any gament now. The funny thing is people still ask for that jean. Now let's talk about the "redemption jean".

It's the same fit as the CvF because let's face it that fit was fucking great. I added the twill to give it a nice edge and a little sybolism ( I am out for blood). The twill has functiona and just finished the inside of the jean off nicely.

I will use a prong shank because I like it better and either hand hammered rivets and smooth rivets to keep it clean.

The denim is sick. The weave the weight and overall character.

I will hold another contest and it will be fun!

Connor- I haven't forgot about you and you are special!

I am hoping to have the jean ready in a couple months if it doesn't work out that way it will be released with the Spring 11 collection which I will be showing very soon.

I would like your thoughts and in put . I doubt if I will lose my temper this time because my factory makes some of your favorite jeans. However I am not promising anything because I know this is the internet and some people are just terds.

Best,
Mauro

PS- no one has sent me pics for the one year mark of the CvF jean yet......just saying if no one does Connor wins by default so he gets to help make the next jean and get paid for it

Are those sewn through belt loops I see?
Yup. Tailored belt loops are on all of my stuff. No need to half ass something. You shouldn't be pulling on your beltloops anyway but just in case it's better to have some reinforcement.

Any chance of a 36+ inseam?
it can be done. If it is and the want the concensus is it will be 36 across the board or 34/35 from sizes 28 to 32 and then 33 up willbe 36 inches.

what's up mauro, jean is lookin good!

imo it's good to have at least 35" on all sizes cause there's always at least an inch of shrinking in the wash, usually a little more.

i think itd be cool to have the little wvg tag on the back pocket corner rather than on the fly. Also possibly a little bit more depth in the stitching colors? Mix lemons and oranges?

What's the cut for those of us who didn't follow the CvF? Also, leather patch? Also also, no back pocket stitching? Also also also, rough estimate on price?

We have until August for the CvsF pics right?

Mauro I dunno if you should be just transferring over the CvsF cut, it was great through the leg but the top block was really weird sizing-wise from measurements. Ie the size 35 had almost a 38 inch waist. I immediately thought to myself when opening this, "fuck, would I be a 32 in these at this point? 31? 33?" I am still not totally sure. If I could offer one suggestion it would be to tweak where necessary to make it easy on your web purchasers so they can size and buy with confidence (which is, let's face it, probably almost your entire clientele on this jean).

Also, definitely recall some people feeling that the CvsF inseam was a little too short. I was fine because I don't really think it makes much sense to stack the things at all given the cut, but some may differ and it's always easier just to go 36" and hem rather than get something you wish was longer. I guess that also falls under the "help people buy with confidence" heading.

i was gonna hem mine but they shrunk 2 inches in the inseam, IIRC. luckily i washed them first. so if you're gonna make it longer, maybe wash the prototypes a couple of times to figure out exact shrinkage?

Obviously the denim is different, but any idea on how much waist stretch to expect at this point--or is it way, way too early to even be asking about this. (33W in your Crates).

I like the no tag on the back. Simpler is better.

I agree that the fit needs to be true compared to the CvF. The 36 in the CvF fit more like a 38. I ended up with a 35 and they are still slightly large.

I am one of those who felt the inseam on the CvF was too short. Although the 35s that I ended up with are fine, the 36s were barely long enough. So add a vote for a 35-36" inseam depending on shrinkage.
