I think I started a threak about these once before but got no love in Fine Living/Home Design, so I'll try again here, where all the professional chefs are.
I'm getting a 36" 6-burner pro-style range with a big gas oven and infrared broiler. It's gonna be awesome and I'm looking forward to it.
I also want to get a second electric wall oven for more everyday use. The size of the gas oven and the fact that it's a manual-clean mean I am not necessarily going to want to use it every day. Simple things like baking a few quarter chickens, or roasting some asparagus, or even roasting a small whole chicken, or cakes or cookies or desserts, I'm going to want to do in a smaller electric oven. Having a second oven will also be very convenient for the somewhat frequent times I need two ovens.
Problem is, space is tight. I also need a microwave and putting in a microwave plus a second oven is going to hog more space than I'd like.
Anyone have experience with these combo ovens that do a microwave's job but can also be used to do most routine baking/roasting needs? I'm thinking Advantium, convection/micro combos, etc.
Do they work? I think they're not self-cleaning though. Can I roast my asparagus in there and get the same results as a regular oven? Roast chicken? Thoughts/ideas/advice?
