The other day, a guy I know used a rolled-up business card to fill up his flask in the absence of one of those little funnels. Call me sheltered or easily impressed, but I'd never seen that. What other little shortcuts do you know?

I have started fires without matches using a bow or using a flint and steel. My best time was just under 60 seconds to get a flame.

The next time some dipshit writes on your white board with permanent marker, just write over it with a dry-erase marker and it'll come right off.

I started fire using my camera lense (a 50mm prime). Take about a minute.

I started a fire using a parabolic shaving mirror. Of course it wasn't intentional, but it did explain why the window curtain in the bathroom was full of little holes.

If I happen to forget collar stays, I simply cut a couple of coffee stirrer (the thin plastic ones) to the right length. voilà

For accurate co*k measurements, a button attached to a paper-clip makes an ideal miniature trundle wheel.

Sounds like a lot of work. I simply stuff a large paper clip in there.
