Yes but there are plenty of cleansing products available to kill germs and odors within the shoes. A good buffing and the untrained eye wouldn't notice that they weren't new. For the budget conscious, sometimes worn shoes are the best route.
I have no problems with used clothes (although I don't actuay have any), but used shoes are kind of creepy.
I don't care how much you polish them and clean them, they still had the toe sweat of another person in them.
