Where in your wardrobe do look to you save money?

Assuming your budget is not infinite, what parts of your wardrobe do you think can be ok without spending top dollar? And what parts do you think are worth splurging for?

For example, this is debatable, but I think the price difference for expensive belts and watches is not usually justified. IMHO, the difference in quality is just not apparent enough to make a huge difference in most looks. And I also try to stay below $160 or so for jeans and trousers.

On the other hand, going cheap on shoes, shirts, jackets and blazers is usually a bad idea. And I don't hesitate to pull the trigger if I find one of these items that I really like.

Any other thoughts?

I don't go cheap on underwear. $20 per pair Unico boxer briefs, and they are so worth it.

Everywhere except shirts and suits and shoes.

I've learned that cheaping out on basics (socks, tees, underoos) just means you'll have to replace them more often. It's better to spend a little more initially than nickel and diming yourself.

I save money by having my EGs double as bottle openers.

I find nice ties are readily available at good prices that I would never pay a $150+ retail on one ever.

This. People will call me cheap but I've never spent more than $45 on a tie, and usually less than that.
