Don't be an asshole. I like that they finally have calf leather oxfords. I'd be really interested in those since I need better workhorse black shoes.

Tyrwhitt has had calf leather oxfords for a while.

Well I bit.. just could not resist the wholecuts, and with the 40%/free shipping promo it wasn't a big risk. Will report on maker as soon as I get my hands on them - though I suspect they are still mfg by Loake and they just haven't updated their catalog... we shall see.

Nice. I may get a pair this September. Trying to control myself, either those or a pair of RM Williams boots...

How did you determine sizing? Did you go 1/2 size small per Loake sizing?

If you can, a report on the wholecuts would be highly appreciated

I am guessing the wholecut's are still the Loake Norwhich. Atleast that is what they look like to me.

They are different. The Norwich has a side seam, as well as a more rounded toe. compared to the new CT wholecut: In any case, I now want cherry-coloured wholecuts Edit: If these are part of a new Loake line, I may look to get them from Pediwear with the Loake club discount if they come out tobe cheaper that way.

Excuse the tangential note: earlier I inadvertently stumbled across this story re. Loake manufacturing.

Nice article thanks. I don't think we should really be surprised. Even with higher level Swiss watches, Swiss made can stillmean there can be a crapload of components derived from China.

Another tangential note: I saw two pairs of Loake at CitiShoes here in NYC that I have not seen anywhere else. The leather was antiqued and it, along with the construction, seemed a lot better than the current Loake 1880's and the Tyrhwitt. It wouldn;t surprise me if these new Tyrwhitts are a new, more premium line of Loake's.
